Job Description Summary

The Senior Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst serves as the senior technical and functional resource for the design, configuration, implementation, optimization, integration, and support of revenue cycle information systems related to Patient Accounting, Billing, Claims Management, Cash Posting, and other back-end revenue cycle solutions. This position partners closely with Patient Financial Services (PFS), Finance, Compliance, Revenue Integrity, and operational leadership to ensure revenue cycle systems effectively support organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and financial performance.
The Senior Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst leads complex projects and optimization initiatives, serves as the primary subject matter expert for assigned applications, and provides guidance and mentorship to other analysts. This role is responsible for analyzing business needs, recommending system solutions, managing application enhancements, and ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of revenue cycle technology solutions.

Job Description

The Senior Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst will:

  • Serve as the functional and technical expert for Patient Accounting, Claims Management, Billing, Cash Posting, and related revenue cycle applications.

  • Partner closely with Patient Financial Services leadership and staff to understand business objectives, identify improvement opportunities, and develop technology solutions.

  • Lead the analysis, design, configuration, testing, implementation, and support of revenue cycle system enhancements and projects.

  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders to evaluate workflows and recommend process improvements that improve revenue cycle efficiency, accuracy, and financial outcomes.

  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and serve as the primary escalation point for advanced application, integration, workflow, and data issues.

  • Analyze system functionality and operational processes to identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and standardization.

  • Develop business requirements, technical specifications, and system design recommendations.

  • Coordinate and lead application testing activities, including system testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.

  • Plan and coordinate application upgrades, system maintenance activities, and implementation of new functionality while minimizing operational disruption.

  • Work closely with Oracle Health, third-party vendors, and internal technical teams to investigate and resolve application issues.

  • Monitor application performance and system reliability, proactively identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.

  • Lead revenue cycle technology initiatives and serve as project lead for assigned projects and strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including configuration records, technical specifications, and operational procedures.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to analysts through knowledge sharing, project leadership, and subject matter expertise.

  • Stay current with healthcare revenue cycle trends, regulatory requirements, Oracle Health enhancements, and industry best practices.

  • Participate in strategic planning discussions and provide recommendations regarding future revenue cycle technology direction and optimization opportunities.

  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Manager, IT Revenue Cycle Applications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent education may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting Oracle Health (Cerner) Patient Accounting, Claims Management, Billing, Cash Posting, or related healthcare revenue cycle applications.

  • Experience leading application implementations, optimizations, upgrades, and strategic projects.

  • Advanced understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, including patient accounting, billing, claims processing, reimbursement, cash posting, revenue integrity, and financial operations.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and industry standards, including HIPAA, CMS, and revenue cycle compliance requirements.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex workflows and develop effective technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities, projects, and operational responsibilities.

  • Experience collaborating with operational leaders and stakeholders to define requirements and implement process improvements.

  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical and operational solutions.

  • Experience coordinating testing, change management, training, and deployment activities.

  • Knowledge of Oracle Health (Cerner) revenue cycle tools, workflows, configuration, and supporting technologies.

  • Working knowledge of Cerner Command Language (CCL) and reporting tools preferred.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new healthcare information systems and technologies as part of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's evolving application portfolio.

  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
