The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.
We're hiring a Bell Captain to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park!
Job Summary:
The Bell Captain oversees a team of Bell Attendants, coordinates front entrance and luggage operations, and ensures service standards are met or exceeded. This position acts as the senior guest service contact at the bell stand, handles special requests, and may assist with VIP arrivals and departures.
The Details:
Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: October 2026 - April 2027
Pay: $17.65/hr.
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with all guests and employees.
  • Lead and train bell attendants and baggage porters, assign schedule and oversee their work.
  • Coordinate luggage handling for group arrival/departures, stage bell carts, and ensure smooth luggage flow.
  • Manager vehicle traffic, guest drop-off, and luggage staging at the front entrance.
  • Serve as senior contact for VIP's arranging transportation, coordinating with front desk, shuttle and escalating unusual needs.
  • Assist with guest transportation, provide directions, and explain hotel amenities.
  • Maintain communication with front desk and floor staff to keep guests informed of any potential issues.
  • Ensure lobbies and entrance areas are presentable, maintain cleanliness in luggage storage and public areas.
  • Assist guests with escort, valet service, and delivery of amenity requests to guest rooms.
  • Provide positive, informative, and courteous customer service to all guests and visitors.
  • Provide shuttle services frequently and on occasion for employees and guests.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of company vehicles and ensures timely maintenance of the vehicle is adhered to.
  • Be familiar with details about the Inn and Ranch including various historical significances of the properties, hours of operation for outlets, and current road conditions.
  • Daily cleaning of lobby, patios/decks, public areas, pool and assist with dusting and picking up trash.
  • Initiate, Manage, and Extinguish fire pits properly and safely in various guest spaces throughout property
  • Be able to assist the Front Desk by covering the counter or answering phones.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and a high level of understanding for California state vehicle traffic laws.
  • Must be available for both AM and PM Bell person shifts.
  • At least 6 months of previous customer service experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements include:
  • Must be able to frequently and safely lift luggage that could be up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to assist guests into and out of the bell van.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
