POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Environmental Services or equivalent, the Environmental Services Aide cleans and services rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas of retirement facilities, following established procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cleans - Cleans public and office areas of facilities and patient/resident rooms as assigned.
    • Cleans floors with a vacuum, dust mop and wet mop. Shampoos carpets.
    • Spot cleans walls as needed.
    • Cleans baseboards, windows, fixtures; replaces light bulbs as requested.
    • Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures and arranges furniture as directed.
    • Follows prescribed cleaning techniques and uses appropriate cleaning solutions for assigned tasks.
  • Inventories - Ensures that an adequate number of supplies are stocked in bathrooms and supply closets.
  • Collects - Gathers and removes trash and recyclables; handles clean and soiled linen properly. Disposes of biohazard waste as directed.
  • Maintains - Retains current knowledge and understanding of proper use of chemicals, tools and equipment associated with cleaning assignments.
  • Performs - Additional responsibilities assigned as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience doing housekeeping work or related experience.
  • The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English fluently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, and twist.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work with on-going exposure to cleaning chemicals.
  • Experience in a retirement community preferred.
