About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full-Stack Developer to join our team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will independently design, develop, and deploy scalable software applications, custom analytics tools, and web modules supporting enterprise risk consulting operations.
You will work heavily across the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js), complex SQL databases, and AWS cloud infrastructure. This position requires a strong technical lead capable of executing end-to-end features, performing data migrations, optimizing queries, and mentoring junior engineering talent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full-Stack Software Development: Independently design, code, test, and debug high-performance web applications and modular software features using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.
  • Database Architecture & Migrations: Architect relational databases, write complex multi-table SQL queries, perform schema design, and execute custom data migrations for analytics platforms.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Deploy, configure, and maintain production applications on AWS infrastructure utilizing EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS services.
  • Version Control & Quality: Manage source code using Git workflows (branching, merging, pull requests, and peer code reviews) while maintaining rigorous unit testing and security standards.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Assist in diagnosing and repairing complex coding issues, including handling escalated (L3) support tickets from internal help desks.
  • Mentorship & Continuous Improvement: Serve as a technical resource and mentor for developers and analysts, monitor support trends to advise leadership on system enhancements, and stay current with emerging web tools.
Required Qualifications
  • 6 to 10 years of professional full-stack development experience with a strong concentration in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
  • Demonstrated mastery of SQL databases, including complex query writing, database design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Practical, hands-on experience deploying and managing web applications on AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
  • Strong experience with Git version control and collaborative developer workflows.
  • Proven track record of working independently under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience mentoring team members and handling technical support escalations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior background or domain knowledge in Insurance, Claims, or Risk Analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with custom data analytics builds and enterprise-scale data migrations.
  • Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and automated CI/CD pipelines.
