Head of Engineering — Growing EdTech SaaS Startup
Help us build the technology that gives K-12 school districts across the country better tools to serve students and staff.
We're a growing EdTech SaaS company looking for a Head of Engineering to own our entire technology function — from architecture to product development, infrastructure, security, and delivery. We don't have an AI strategy yet — you'll be the one to define it, deciding where and how AI creates real value for our product, our team, and the districts we serve.
This isn't a "manage the dev team" role. We're looking for someone who wants to help build a company.
You might be a great fit if you're:
- Genuinely curious — always exploring new technologies and staying ahead of where AI is headed, not just applying it, but figuring out where it should go
- Speed-driven, with a bias toward shipping and learning fast
- Comfortable making smart calls with imperfect information
- Still hands-on — you'd rather write code than just review it
- Excited by the challenge (and chaos) of scaling a startup
- 8+ years software engineering experience, with a track record of technical leadership
Technical experience:
- .NET / C# (Blazor Server experience a plus)
- SQL Server, multi-tenant database design
- AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS/S3 migration experience a plus)
- SSO / OAuth 2.0 implementation
- Security-first mindset — encryption, secrets management
We keep our stack lean by design. If you value simplicity over chasing every new framework, you'll feel at home here.
What you'll own:
- Technology strategy and system architecture
- Defining our AI strategy from the ground up
- The full software development lifecycle
- Cloud infrastructure, security, and scalability
- Engineering culture and process
- Hiring, growing, and mentoring the engineering team
Why this role:
You'll have real influence over both the product and the company's direction — not just execute a roadmap someone else set. If you're energized by building fast, using AI to push what's possible, solving hard technical problems, and doing work that actually matters in K-12 education, let's talk.
This is a chance to shape where a growing company goes — not just fill a seat on the org chart.
