What You'll Do
Are you a data-driven finance professional who thrives on turning complex information into meaningful insights that influence strategic decisions? As a Senior Financial Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in shaping how the Firm understands and leverages its financial and operational data. Working closely with senior management, partners, and cross-functional leaders, you'll design and deliver advanced analytics, build scalable data models, and support high-impact reporting that drives business performance.
You'll bridge the gap between technical data structures and business needs-transforming transactional data into intuitive, actionable insights. This is an opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives, enhance reporting capabilities, and help evolve the Firm's data environment through innovation and collaboration.
• Drive Strategic Insights - Support key Firm initiatives through financial modeling, data mining, and advanced analysis to inform decision-making and performance tracking.
• Design Data Models - Architect and develop scalable, user-friendly data models (fact and dimension structures) that enable efficient reporting and analysis.
• Build Reporting Solutions - Create and enhance reports and dashboards using Power BI, leveraging Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to deliver meaningful insights.
• Translate Business Needs - Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements and identify optimal data sources and delivery methods.
• Optimize Data Environment - Identify gaps in current systems and recommend solutions to improve data accessibility, quality, and usability.
• Develop Advanced Queries - Write and optimize complex queries using Transact-SQL (Structured Query Language) and other reporting tools.
• Analyze Complex Data Sets - Interpret trends, patterns, and correlations within large datasets to support business and financial objectives.
• Innovate Processes - Introduce new tools, techniques, and analytical approaches to improve efficiency and support evolving business needs.
• Transform and Present Data - Organize complex data into clear, structured reports for senior leadership, including committees and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
• Support Process Improvement - Contribute to system and process re-engineering efforts while evaluating downstream impacts of changes.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally - Work closely with internal teams and stay current on emerging trends and capabilities within Power BI and analytics tools.
What You'll Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance (or comparable experience) required; with 6+ years of experience in accounting and/or finance, showing progressive growth in responsibilities.
• CPA status or an MBA, as well as previous experience in a law/professional services firm is desirable, but not required.
• Technical Expertise - Strong proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL), Power Automate, and advanced Microsoft Excel required; experience with relational database concepts, Power BI report building, DAX knowledge, or Tabular Modeling is a plus.
• Analytical Thinking - Exceptional ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret complex data while maintaining a clear understanding of broader business objectives.
• Problem Solving & Initiative - Proactive mindset with the ability to identify next steps, anticipate challenges, and develop effective solutions.
• Communication Skills - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present insights and recommendations to diverse audiences.
• Collaboration & Professionalism - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, building strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Attention to Detail - High level of accuracy and organization, with a commitment to excellence in all deliverables.
If you're excited to turn data into strategic insight and help shape the future of financial decision-making, we'd love to hear from you!
