The Opportunity
Are you an operationally minded finance leader who wants to own the numbers for a fast-growing transportation business, not just report on them? Someone who is as comfortable on an operations call or in a terminal as you are in a month end file?
Lambert Nemec Group has partnered with a large, well established Global organization to recruit a Controller for its transportation. This is a growing, entrepreneurial part of a much bigger group, expanding across Canada and into the United States, and it needs a talented finance leader to match that pace.

This is the senior finance seat for the business. You will be the go-to finance partner for the operating leaders, turning results into decisions on profitability, cost, and growth. It is a standalone role today, with genuine runway to build a small team beneath you as the business scales.

You will report directly to the North American Director of Finance and work shoulder to shoulder with the VP of the business and other senior leaders across the group.

What You Will Own
•    Financial reporting, variance analysis, and operational performance reporting
•    The story behind the numbers: profitability, lane and route economics, asset utilization, freight and operating costs, and service performance, translated into clear actions for operating leaders
•    Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the unit as it expands across North America
•    Business partnering with operations leadership on pricing, cost control, and margin improvement
•    The month end close, including revenue recognition, accruals, and intercompany, and the review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the shared services team
•    Better reporting, analytics, and process discipline, bringing structure and consistency to how the unit sees and uses its numbers
•    Audit support and adherence to internal controls and accounting policy
•    The finance voice for the transportation operation, and the growth of that finance function as the business grows

Who You Are
•    A finance professional with five plus years of progressive accounting and finance experience, at an intermediate to senior level
•    Someone with real transportation finance experience, ideally LTL, freight, or distribution, who understands how the economics of moving freight actually work
•    Strong financial reporting and analytical skills to perform operational and performance analysis
•    Experienced with a major ERP system and genuinely strong in Excel, comfortable building the analysis outside the system when the tooling is legacy
•    A business minded finance professional who thrives working independently and who can back up real, demonstrable expertise
•    A confident, credible communicator, at ease partnering with VPs and senior executives
•    A designated Canadian CPA; the organization is committed to investing in its people and provides offers tuition support and professional development

Rewards
•    Base salary of $110,000 to $140,000,depending on qualifications
•    Employer matched RRSP
•    Better than market Paid time off including vacation, flex days, etc.
•    Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
•    Life and disability insurance and an employee assistance program
•    Tuition and professional development support, including CPA
•    A high visibility, standalone finance role with clear room to grow as the business unit expands
