SENIOR ESTIMATOR 

Searching for a result-driven, skilled and proven Senior Estimator for complex heavy civil projects and promoting company growth in the Northeast and Southeast Regions. Scope of work may include Bridges, DOT, Federal, Heavy Civil Highway, Infrastructure, and Utility projects.

As a Senior Estimator, you are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, producing comprehensive estimates, developing bid strategies, managing contracts and subcontracts, providing cost & margin analysis, and understanding the complete build scope required to successfully bid and win a project. After estimates are won, continue to work with the Project Management team(s) to follow up on the project schedules and budgets to close the business successfully.

General Job Duties of a Senior Estimator

  • Responsible for bid administration in preparing full estimates
  • Prepares and maintains the status of plan reproduction. solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors
  • Comprehensive knowledge of means and methods, ability to read and understand build plans and specifications
  • Prepares subcontractor bid packages to be included in bid proposals and communicates addenda and other bid information to subcontractors
  • Coordinates and interfaces with owners, architects, engineers, project managers and other project team members to resolve any technical matters during planning and development, negotiation, and contract execution
  • Attends Pre-bid meetings, site visits, and pre-construction meetings
  • Performs all stages of an estimate including project selection, estimate organization, take-off, pricing, review, and closeout
  • Assists project management with preconstruction planning, takes part in scheduling meeting and budget meetings when requested
  • Prepare, analyze and maintain accurate quantities and thorough take- off’s from plans and assists project management team when requested during project
  • Estimate time, materials and equipment required for job completion
  • Develops/utilizes, improves costings methods, and keeps current with estimating software
  • Some flexibility may be needed to travel to sites, conferences and working hours outside of usual business hours on occasion
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Skills & Qualifications/Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy civil estimating experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or related field,  Preferred but not required
  • Proficient in estimating, scheduling, and construction programs (IE,  HCSS, HeavyJob, MSProjects, P6)
  • Prior field experience as Project Manager/Superintendent /Project Engineer Preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
