Job description

I. Job Summary
The Sr. Project Manager is part of a small team specifically organized to launch and support new SES operations or provide backfill where needed. This position will report into the Implementation TM and manage several exempt and non-exempt positions. This position will be deployed to new and existing customer locations to plan and direct all onsite or remote activities at highly complex client location(s) with revenues over $.5MM, in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of multiple hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following federal, state & local regulations. Manage and plan activities of onsite personnel or 3rd party contractors. Serve as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues and contract management. Maintain pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues. Identify regulatory, business, personnel concerns, develop and implement processes and solutions. Additionally, this position will work with management to develop and implement a strategic project roadmap and operational framework. This position will be deployed until these sites have the permanent personnel required to service the project.

Travel required 85% of the time

Position is remote, but individual must reside in, or be willing to relocate to one of the following states: 

IL - IN - KY - TN - MI - OH
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • 85% travel within the U.S.
  • Responsible for managing all operational aspects of new customer launches, including all temporary and permanent personnel, until the location has all necessary trained headcount to support the operation
  • Train permanent staff on WM and customer responsibilities and expectations
  • Manage, measure, and track personnel daily responsibilities and activities. Coordinate team assignments, roles and responsibilities to ensure compliant and efficient completion of work responsibilities. 
  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state and local regulations. Ensure that all team members maintain up to date certifications and training.
  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.
  • Consult with client to identify, design and implement cost saving opportunities and proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with Waste Management client and government regulations by reviewing necessary inspections and reporting. Identify areas of risk and develop and implement corrective actions. Resolve all issues in a timely manner. 
  • Review and comprehend client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts. Enact changes and processes to maintain contractual compliance while optimizing EBIT.
  • May occasionally be required to perform labor-intensive activities (e.g., drum collection and bulking).
  • Direct supervision of 2+ full-time exempt level employees.

III. Qualifications 
A. Required Qualifications 
 

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in job related field, or in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited), and 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience is required (in addition to education requirement)
  • TWIC Card or ability to obtain prior to starting
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of starting
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements and
  • Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.

Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $73,150/annually - $103,000/annually. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a 15% annual target bonus.
