The City of Redmond is seeking a highly-skilled and motivated Senior Engineering Technician to join our Public Works - Traffic Safety division. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Redmond's right-of-way network.

As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will support a variety of municipal engineering functions through both field and office work. Your responsibilities will include field inspections, report preparation, plan review, and technical calculations.

This role is ideal for a highly organized individual with strong technical acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Join our team as a Senior Engineering Technician and make a significant impact on the transportation, construction, and right-of-way construction and permitting activities in our organization. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform field inspections of right-of-way construction projects, including roads, streets, sidewalks, and utilities installations, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.

Maintains accurate and complete documentation of inspections and field revisions. Conduct plan reviews for traffic control, construction, and right-of-way permit processing, including interaction with Energov software and calculation of invoices and bond values. Coordinate the review and approval of Right-of-Way applications related to telecommunications and franchise utilities.

Review engineering quantities and calculations to establish cost estimates for bonding purposes. Review permit applications for compliance and create invoices, as well as issue permits. Collaborate and effectively communicate with telecommunications companies, franchise utilities, developers, businesses, residents, and internal and external customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and Skills in Engineering and construction terms and methods. Mathematical knowledge as applied to engineering computations. Understanding of principles and practices of engineering project design process.

Ability to use GIS software to interpret maps and spatial data. Skills in defusing difficult situations and gaining compliance with standards and/or contract terms. Abilities to Communicate technical information and requirements in a clear, accurate manner verbally, in writing, graphic presentation, or alternate media.

Make complicated field decisions independently and request assistance from other staff when necessary. Work independently and manage assigned tasks with minimal direction. Read, create, and interpret engineering drawings.

Use personal computers and to learn software tools used in engineering, permitting, and document management. Perform work completely, accurately, consistently and independently. Perform engineering and mathematical calculations.

Establish and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with co-workers, applicants, contractors, developers, and partner departments. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience College -level course work or graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a degree in drafting, engineering sciences or related field. Seven (7) years experience in an engineering technician-related field.

Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
