Senior Engineer – Building Envelope

About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Building Envelope to join its growing team in Toronto.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong building science professional who enjoys leading projects, mentoring junior staff, developing client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of a respected consulting practice.

Working alongside an experienced leadership team, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of new construction, restoration, heritage, institutional, commercial, residential, and recreational projects throughout Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage building envelope consulting projects from inception through completion.
  • Design and assess building envelope systems, including glazing, curtain walls, windows, roofing, and exterior wall assemblies.
  • Perform building envelope investigations, assessments, and thermal modelling.
  • Conduct field reviews throughout construction and prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable building codes, and industry standards.
  • Develop technical specifications, tender documents, and drawing packages.
  • Review project documentation to ensure technical accuracy and quality.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff to support their professional development.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on complex projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Visit construction sites, including work at heights using scaffolding and swing stages when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in building envelope consulting, building science, or related engineering fields.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building envelope systems and performance testing.
  • Previous consulting engineering or construction experience in a client-facing environment.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Bluebeam; experience with Microsoft Excel is considered an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence.
