Expected salary range of $162,000 to $180,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

Primary Purpose of Position

Provides overall management of the Reactor Engineering function at one or more nuclear clean energy centers (CECs). Develops and implements long-term strategic reactivity CEC plans and day-to-day administration of all aspects of these activities. Manages the development of fuel and special nuclear material (SNMP) moves, including refueling outage planning and oversight.


Primary Duties and Accountabilities

  • Manages Reactor Engineering resources at one or more stations to assure functional area activities are executed with an appropriate balance of operational excellence, safety, and cost, while meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the performance and development of assigned Reactor Engineering personnel and cadre relative to site and corporate objectives and provide focus on the attainment of high-quality results.
  • Directly and through subordinates, fulfill engineering and technical leadership accountability regarding short-term and long-term reactor engineering programs that impact CEC operations. Ensure that functional area support is provided for business plan initiatives.
  • Serve as the senior CEC expert and Senior Functional Area Manager at one more CEC for the management of reactivity and nuclear fuel, including the implementation of reload core designs and cycle management.
  • Participate in Business Planning, Budget, and Business Performance review regarding assigned personnel. Manages functional area Business Initiatives while interfacing with Corporate Operations and Nuclear Fuels.
  • Participate as a senior resource to Constellation-wide programs and initiatives regarding Reactivity Management and Operational Excellence.
  • Must obtain Qualified Nuclear Engineering (QNE) within 24 months of assuming the position.
  • Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management or pursuant to company policy, including but not limited to emergency response, departmental coverage, call outs, and support of outage activities in positions outside the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear) or related science and 5 years of related experience with commercial or military nuclear power plant or other utility experience
  • Must meet additional requirements as outlined in ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 Standard, "Selection, Qualification, and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants"
  • Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties

  • Professional Engineer Designation
  • Holds Qualified Nuclear Engineering (QNE) or Senior Reactor Operator certification / license
  • Multi-site experience
  • Advanced technical degree or Master of Business Administration
  • Supervisory or managerial experience
