Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems, Switchgear & Transformers

URGENT NEED!

Department: Engineering
Reports To: Director of Engineering / VP of Sales Operations
Status: Full-Time | Exempt

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical authority for medium-voltage transformer applications supporting mission-critical data centers, renewable energy facilities, industrial manufacturing, and utility power systems. This position combines power systems engineering with customer-facing application support, helping develop engineered transformer solutions that meet demanding performance, reliability, and operational requirements.

Working closely with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and business development teams, you will evaluate electrical system requirements, develop application solutions, review technical specifications, and support complex projects from concept through manufacturing.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced power systems engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges while influencing major infrastructure projects.


ResponsibilitiesPower Systems Engineering
  • Review customer electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and utility requirements.
  • Evaluate transformer applications for medium-voltage electrical distribution systems up to 35kV.
  • Develop engineered transformer solutions for:
    • Hyperscale Data Centers
    • Utility Infrastructure
    • Renewable Energy Facilities
    • Industrial Manufacturing
    • Commercial & Institutional Power Systems
  • Review electrical loading, impedance, voltage, cooling, protection, and grounding requirements.
  • Support transformer modernization, retrofit, replacement, and life-extension projects.
Technical Applications
  • Develop technical proposals and engineered solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Interpret utility interconnection requirements and project specifications.
  • Assist with equipment selection and application engineering.
  • Support factory engineering and manufacturing teams throughout project execution.
  • Resolve technical questions during design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery.
Customer Support
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in technical meetings with consulting engineers, EPC firms, contractors, utilities, and end users.
  • Present engineering solutions and provide technical guidance during project development.
  • Support field personnel with technical questions related to installation and commissioning.
Engineering Collaboration
  • Work closely with manufacturing, repair operations, engineering, and sales teams.
  • Assist with engineering standards, product improvements, and technical documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Power Systems Engineering
    • Electrical Design Engineering
    • Application Engineering
    • Medium-Voltage Distribution
    • Transformer Engineering
    • Switchgear Engineering
  • Strong understanding of medium-voltage electrical distribution systems up to 35kV.
  • Ability to interpret:
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Three-line diagrams
    • Protection schemes
    • Utility standards
    • Electrical specifications
  • Knowledge of transformer design, application, testing, or field service is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and utility standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to engineers, contractors, and customers.
  • Travel approximately 5% for customer meetings, factory visits, and project support.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PE License or EIT certification.
