Our Atlanta team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with at least 8-10+ years of experience to join the team. This role will be tasked with leading the electrical team in our Atlanta office. The person in this role will be responsible for the design of electrical systems for KCL Engineering that meet KCL Engineering standards, client expectations and system budget. Works within department, office, and company teams to produce design documents. Provides consultation and construction administration for systems designed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Demonstrate an understanding of the client’s business and an in-depth knowledge of responsibilities and relationships between owner, consultant, contractors, and suppliers in order to protect client’s interest.

Be a leader in the electrical team, helping propell business forward.

Perform design calculations and code research.

Discuss design concepts with client; write and edit specifications for system design.

Provide support to other engineers and designers.

Maintain schedule and meet deadlines.

Provide costing estimates for systems assigned.

Communicate and coordinate work in progress with team members, and be able to work on multiple projects at the same time

Cross reference drawings with meeting notes

Conduct field survey for remodel and/or addition projects.

Create schematic, design development, and construction documents.

Review documents for accuracy, cross check with other trades, and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural personnel.

Make site visits to projects during construction.

Review shop drawings.

Perform construction administration responsibilities.

Troubleshoot problems and communicate with appropriate parties.

Adhere to CAD, Revit, and KCL Engineering standards.

Keep abreast of changes, new technology and trends in the area of expertise and recommend changes and new services as appropriate. Recommend updated procedures and methods where appropriate

Participate in quality control reviews

Participate as a team member, contributing ideas and possible solutions, while providing opportunities for leadership development.

May require work or attendance at meetings beyond normal workday.

Ability to operate computer and various other office, software, and engineering tools/equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES

Independent judgements such as setting task priorities, evaluating results, coordinating with others, etc.

Skills in understanding, explaining, teaching, and influencing people are important to achieving job objectives, causing action, or understanding in others

Requires in depth knowledge of own discipline (electrical, mechanical, structural, or information systems) and a knowledge of construction in general.

Requires the ability to integrate theoretical and practical information and apply that information for construction projects

Excellent communication and human relation skills

Ability to solve a variety of complex problems where only limited standardization exists, or in the absence of technical guidelines or precedents

Requires a commitment to quality and teamwork

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred, but not required.

Minimum of 8-10+ years of experience

Or an equivalent combination of experience and education
