Job description

Senior Electric Engineering Inspector
Location: Spring Valley, NY (In-office and field-based)
Pay Rate: $45-$55/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (flexibility may be required)
Start Date: ASAP
Type: Temp-to-Hire (eligible after 520 hours)
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Per Diem / Travel: Not offered, local candidates only
Project Overview
This role supports electric utility infrastructure projects within an environmental and utility services division. Work includes oversight across transmission, substations, and distribution systems, ensuring compliance, safety, and execution standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee a team of up to 5 electrical inspectors across multiple projects
  • Manage projects in various phases, including design, active construction, and closeout
  • Monitor contractor performance, manpower, and material deliveries
  • Maintain detailed daily reporting of construction activities, including out-of-scope work and cost impacts
  • Track and document all material transactions including issuance, transfers, and returns
  • Coordinate between contractors, subcontractors, internal stakeholders, and local agencies
  • Witness, approve, and document testing procedures such as transformer and concrete testing
  • Interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Enforce OSHA standards and ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with project-specific safety plans, including E-HASP protocols

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electric utility construction inspection
  • Direct experience with:
    • Transmission (overhead and underground)
    • Substations
    • Distribution systems (overhead and underground)
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, safety compliance, and regulatory standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
