Job description

SUMMARY:

The Quality Systems & Warranty Manager role leads quality performance across the NAFTA region by owning both management systems and warranty execution. The position drives compliance with IATF and ISO standards while reducing warranty cost, improving field performance, and strengthening customer trust.

This position will set the standard for how quality operates across the region. You ensure systems are disciplined, audits are effective, and processes are consistent across all sites. You take direct ownership of field issues, resolve root causes, and prevent recurrence.

The Quality Systems and Warranty Manager will operate at the center of the business. The position will align plant operations, engineering, and leadership with customer expectations and global requirements. You turn data into action, enforce accountability, and deliver measurable improvements in cost, quality, and operational performance.

Success in this role shows up in fewer customer issues, stronger audit results, and sustained improvement across all NAFTA operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Warranty & Field Quality

  • Serve as primary customer contact for warranty, goodwill, and field quality topics
  • Lead warranty lifecycle management, including data analysis, cost recovery, and reporting
  • Manage complex field issues using structured problem solving methods such as 8D and RCA
  • Coordinate containment and corrective actions across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Lead field returns and no trouble found investigations with clear documentation
  • Support General Managers and Finance on warranty cost alignment and recovery actions
  • Drive KPI tracking such as warranty cost, claim rates, and debit note trends
  • Lead regular customer quality reviews with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
  • Translate global warranty standards into regional execution

Quality Management Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve the regional Quality Management System aligned with IATF 16949
  • Support and oversee ISO systems including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001
  • Lead internal audit programs across NAFTA, including system, process, and layered audits
  • Prepare for and support external certification and customer audits
  • Ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness
  • Standardize processes across US and Mexico operations
  • Act as key user and trainer for quality systems tools such as ConSense

Continuous Improvement & Operations Support

  • Drive cross functional improvement initiatives focused on PPM reduction and cost of quality
  • Support process owners in defining and improving workflows
  • Deliver KPI reporting to regional leadership
  • Train teams on automotive core tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC
  • Support product and process improvements based on field performance data
  • Align regional practices with global and business unit standards

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide functional leadership to Field Quality Engineers and site quality teams
  • Partner with Business Unit leadership and AUNDE Group on standards and initiatives
  • Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and EHS teams
  • Act as escalation point for quality and warranty issues
  • Own regional quality performance, including warranty cost, PPM, and audit outcomes
  • Accountable for customer scorecards and quality KPIs across NAFTA
  • Approve corrective actions and quality decisions impacting customers
  • Escalate and resolve critical quality and warranty risks across sites
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will have supervisory responsibilities for Field Quality Engineers, Quality Systems Engineers and Warranty Specialist.

  • Strong technical and systems proficiency, including ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools
  • Must also have a willingness to travel across NAFTA

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience; seven plus years’ experience in automotive quality, warranty, or manufacturing environment. Must possess a strong knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive core tools.  Experience managing warranty processes and customer quality issues required.  Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is a must along with advanced Excel skills. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
