Description

Westwood Professional Services, Inc is looking for an Economic Modeling Analyst to synthesize market trends and data, including financial metrics, to inform strategic and operational decisions across the organization. Collaborate with finance teams to develop forecasts and budgets; support business lines in project management; and assist HR in compensation planning and market expansion strategies. Conduct research and analysis on economic data and trends; produce forecasts, interpretive reports, and visual media for risk assessment, communication, and decision-making. Collect economic data from established datasets and other sources using data collection and data science protocols. Apply statistical analysis, mathematical methodologies, and modeling techniques to develop and refine data sets. Design and organize data into customized report models and graphical illustrations to present economic information for decision-making and solution development. Utilize Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder software to visualize findings from economic data across multiple markets. Run descriptive analytic models using SQL on aggregated data from economic studies to generate insights. Provide predictive analytics on potential impacts to labor markets, such as those caused by weather events. Research and analyze HR data across different regions (e.g., parishes) to deliver analytics supporting market expansion initiatives. Employ DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) languages to prepare Power BI queries and measures for multiple business lines. Develop automated workflows using Power Automate and canvas applications with Power Apps to streamline business processes, data integration, and reporting efficiency. Optimize Power BI semantic models using Tabular Editor and DAX Studio to enhance performance, apply best practices, and troubleshoot complex measures. Participate in the creation of strategies for the Information Technology team; test new tools and processes to drive organizational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Quantitative Economics, Data Science, or a closely related field and five (5) years of progressive experience in economic analysis, data modeling, or business intelligence roles, including hands-on work with data visualization and reporting tools or a Master's degree in Economics, Quantitative Economics, Data Science, or a closely related field and three (3) years in economic analysis, data modeling, or business intelligence roles, including hands-on work with data visualization and reporting tools, in lieu of the Bachelor's degree and five years of experience requirements.

Other experience must include: 

  • Custom development experience using Power BI Report Builder, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and SQL queries, including implementing row-level and object-level security. 
  • Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for Power BI and MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) for Power Query. 
  • Building Power Automate flows to automate tasks and developing Power Apps canvas apps to collect data. 
  • Developing use cases, managing data, and generating insights through visualization.

Required Certifications: 

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate

Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
