Are you passionate about supporting the Senior Population and making a real difference in their lives? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Driver to join the Hempstead Senior Community Service Center (SCSC).

  • Salary: $24 per hour

  • Schedule: 25-30 hours per week between the hours of 8:30AM- 3:30PM, Monday-Friday

  • Location: Hempstead, NY

  • Reports to: Center Manager

What drives the core purpose of this job:

The Driver is responsible for transporting elderly participants to and from the Hempstead Senior Community Service Center (SCSC).

What are the key responsibilities:

  • Transport participants to and from the Hempstead SCSC.

  • Provide safe transportation by adhering to all safety rules of the road and exercising appropriate driving judgment including checking that all individuals on vehicle are utilizing seat belts always.

  • Maintain program vehicle(s), informing Center Manager of any problems. Keep record of vehicle repairs.

  • Maintain transportation lists and contact center members to inquire about transportation reservations.

  • Maintain proper levels of gasoline and oil in program vehicle(s) and keep interior of vehicle(s) clean.

  • Maintain daily mileage log.

  • Assist with serving of meals, kitchen clean-up, daily activities set up and clean up.

  • Adhere to all policy and procedures set forth in EAC Networks Personnel Manual and Agency Driver Policy.

  • May occasionally be required to assist at another EAC Senior Program location during normal working hours.

What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:

  • Valid NY State Commercial Driver's License (CDL - Must be Class B ), with passenger endorsement (transport headcount of 16+ passengers) with no record of suspensions.

  • Must take defensive driving course every 3 years and submit verification.

  • Ability to read and interpret a map/GPS as necessary.

  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of the elderly.

  • Ability to complete all required paperwork necessary to perform work assignments.

  • Must be proficient in computer applications necessary to complete daily work assignments daily timesheet, request time off , participate in required trainings and MS Outlook email.
