We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-time/As Needed Senior Citizen Activity Bus Driver to join our Summit County Senior Citizens. The Senior Activity Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting senior citizens to and from scheduled activities, appointments & meals This position ensures a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment while supporting program operations and promoting the well-being and independence of senior participants. This is a on-call, as needed position, candidate must be flexible and available to accept assignments as needed. Join a community that values its employees and promotes a positive work-life balance. SALARY: $21.06 - $29.11/hourly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must obtain and submit a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Ability to safely operate a small bus/van; CDL not required. 
  • Experience working with seniors or in a customer service role preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Safely operate a small bus/van to transport senior citizens.
  • Perform routine driver duties including fueling, cleaning, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Drive carefully and smoothly with consideration for passenger safety and comfort.
  • Assist passengers on and off the bus, including those requiring mobility assistance.
  • Operate wheelchair lift systems and properly secure mobility devices.
  • Transport participants to county activities between all three senior centers as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of all vehicle systems and interior operations.
  • Ensure timely departures and arrivals for scheduled activities.
  • Complete required documentation, including daily activity reports and observations.
  • Schedule buses for activities as assigned.
  • Clean and maintain the vehicle, including washing and interior upkeep after each trip.
  • Follow all state motor vehicle laws, regulations, and county policies and procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with the public, coworkers, supervisors, and participants.
  • Advocate for senior participants and ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Utilize appropriate staff for safety checks in a timely manner.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations and follow established safety procedures.
  • Report accidents, incidents, or concerns immediately according to policy.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
