Job description

As a Property Accountability Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Joint Staff by ensuring rigorous property accountability and logistics management. This position is based in Washington, DC, and involves direct interaction with senior government officials, including the Chairman. You will be responsible for overseeing the acquire-to-retire property lifecycle, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting logistical planning and control.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing day-to-day operations support focused on property accountability and logistics for government assets
  • Planning, executing, and managing infrastructure, logistics, and property accountability activities
  • Conducting inventory of accountable equipment at the warehouse and reconciling inventory records
  • Obtaining and maintaining receiving and issuance documentation to support property lifecycle tracking
  • Supporting logistical planning and control, including development of short- and long-range logistics management plans
  • Performing budget analysis and developing logistics databases
  • Analyzing program logistical needs and applying military logistics management procedures and property accountability systems
  • Interfacing with senior government officials and ensuring professionalism in all communications

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in property accountability and logistics within a military or government context
  • Hands-on experience conducting inventories of accountable equipment and reconciling inventory records
  • Experience maintaining receiving and issuance documentation for property lifecycle tracking
  • Proficiency using DPAS (Defense Property Accountability System) and DD Form 1150/property transfer documentation
  • Knowledge of military logistics management procedures and property accountability systems
  • Experience with property custodian processes, record transfers, maintenance recall tracking, and transferring equipment between accounts/properties
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance and U.S. citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with GCSS-Army and/or GEOTAB
  • Experience with fleet and vehicle management, including GSA leasing and usage
  • Experience supporting senior U.S. government officials or high-level stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and written communication skills, including ability to complete assignments to standards
  • Ability to develop logistics management plans and perform budget analysis
  • Experience developing databases for logistics use
