The Senior Director of FP&A will be a strategic, analytically driven leader responsible for enterprise financial planning, strategic initiatives, and decision support across Fleet Feet and Marathon Sports. This role will guide financial planning for a multi-channel business that includes company-owned retail stores, franchised locations, and a fast-growing e-commerce channel.

As Senior Director, you will be responsible for the Company’s financial planning processes, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term strategic planning, while supporting cross-functional decision-making through robust financial modeling and analysis. You will also lead to improve forecast accuracy, standardize KPIs across departments, and build a high-performing FP&A team that fosters data-driven decision making and financial discipline throughout the organization.

The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter who is comfortable navigating the complexities of a multi-channel retail business, encompassing franchised and corporate-owned locations, a growing e-commerce platform, and a centralized distribution center. This position will serve as a key business partner across departments and will work closely with the Controller’s organization to ensure timely and insightful financial reporting.

ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Long-Range Planning
  • Lead long-range planning and strategic investment analysis across company-owned retail, franchising, and e-commerce, including scenario modeling, ROI analysis, feasibility studies, and business cases for new stores, market entry, acquisitions, partnerships, and capital investments.
  • Lead financial modeling and due diligence for M&A opportunities, including franchise acquisitions, tuck-in brands, or strategic partnerships.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Development, and Operations to evaluate location performance, cannibalization risk, and buildout economics.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations and business cases for potential acquisitions, investments, and expansions.
Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Lead the FP&A function, ensuring budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes are efficient, accurate, and aligned with operational and strategic priorities. Responsibilities include setting guidelines and timelines, managing budget templates, training stakeholders, consolidating submissions, and preparing leadership materials that connect financial plans to company goals.
  • Develop and refine models to support corporate budgeting and forecasting models, including multi-year projections.
  • Build, improve, and maintain key reports, forms, and ad hoc analyses that support management and financial objectives.
  • Develop dashboards and analytics to support key business questions and executive decision-making.
  • Analyze and communicate business trends, competitive positioning, and performance metrics to influence corporate strategy.
  • Support Controllership with cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and debt/capital structure modeling.
  • Administrative oversight for the NetSuite Planning and Budgeting module, including associated data flows from NetSuite.
Financial Reporting and Collaboration
  • Work in partnership with the Controller’s team to produce monthly department-level and executive financial reporting packages.
  • Effectively communicate the financial results to unit leaders and other key stakeholders.
  • Analyze alignment between actuals and forecasts, explain key variances, and identify actions needed to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and Board-level reporting cycles by developing executive packages, board decks, and strategic initiative tracking that improve financial visibility and transparency.
  • Deliver ongoing reporting enhancements to improve visibility and accessibility of financial data across the organization.
  • Strengthen, document, and share FP&A processes and best practices to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency
Cross-Functional & Business Decision Support
  • Act as a financial advisor to the leadership team.
  • Act as a tactical partner to department heads, translating performance data into actionable insights and supporting operational decisions.
  • Work closely with Data Analytics to validate key business metrics, one common language and report validation.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to evaluate new initiatives, optimize resource allocation, and drive ROI.
  • Conduct labor efficiency analyses to support optimal staffing models across retail, e-commerce, and distribution operations.
  • Translate financial insights into operational action plans, ensuring KPIs are directly linked to performance drivers across labor, fulfillment, and unit economics.
  • Manage capital planning and provide financial oversight for major capex initiatives, ensuring alignment with company priorities, return thresholds, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Play an integral role in the development of Company Scorecard, through identification of KPIs and data visualization.
  • Support financial literacy across departments by educating managers on unit financials, budgets and KPIs.
  • Foster a data-driven culture and improve financial processes, tools, and systems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant experience in corporate FP&A, strategic finance, or related decision-support roles.
  • Prior experience in multi-unit retail, e-commerce, or franchised business models is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead complex financial analyses and communicate insights to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong command of financial modeling, scenario planning, and capital budgeting.
  • Proficient with financial systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite, NSPB/EPM/PBC, Power BI, or similar).
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, collaborative mindset.
