THE ROLE

E Ink is seeking an experienced and highly innovative scientist to develop next-generation driving technologies for E Ink's cutting-edge electrophoretic products. In this role, you will invent and optimize novel driving algorithms that improve key product characteristics, including optical performance, switching speed, power consumption, and reliability. You will combine a deep understanding of physics with experimental design, data analysis, and software development to solve complex technical challenges and enable next-generation products.

You will work closely with material scientists, display engineers, electrical engineers, optical engineers, and product teams to transform scientific understanding into practical driving algorithms and production-ready solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the electro-optical and physics governing product behavior and translate that understanding into innovative driving algorithms.
  • Design, execute, and analyze controlled experiments to characterize electro-optical performance andvalidatenew concepts.
  • Develop optical test methods, analytical models, and simulation tools to explain product behavior and predict performance.
  • Design and implement driving algorithms and software to optimize optical performance, switching speed, power consumption, and product reliability.
  • Drive technical investigations of complex product, manufacturing, and customer issues using structured root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition new driving technologies from research into production.
  • Document technical findings, generate intellectual property, and present results to engineering and management teams.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Materials Science, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience (M.S. with 5+ years of relevant industry experience will also be considered).
  • Strong hands-on experimental skills with a passion for laboratory-based research and product development.
  • Demonstrated experience designing controlled experiments, performing rigorous data analysis, and drawing sound scientific conclusions.
  • Expertisein one or more of the following (or related areas): optimization algorithms, hardware and electronics, machine learning, computational physics, signals and systems, optical systems, or control systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; experiencewith scientific computing libraries is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, source meters, optical measurement systems, cameras, and automated test equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and structured root-cause analysis skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated creativity anda track recordof developing innovative technical solutions or patented technologies is a plus.
COMPENSATIONDISCLOSURE

At E Ink, we believe in rewarding employees with competitive total compensation through a combination of base salary and performance-basedbonuses, witha largerportionof total compensation delivered through our annual bonus program than is typical at many companies. To provide applicants with a more complete picture of our compensation philosophy, we aredisclosingboth the estimated annual total compensation and the annual base salary range for this position. For this position, the estimated annual total compensation range is$175,000 to $240,000,based on the Company's most recent annual bonus payout. The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 to $155,000.

The annual base salary range reflects the Company's good-faith estimate of the base salary itreasonably expectsto pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual starting base salary isdeterminedbased on job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, certifications, and other qualifications. Annual bonus payments are based on Company performance, are not guaranteed, and may be higher or lower than the estimate reflected above.

In addition to a competitive base salary, E Ink offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; and a401(k) retirementsavings plan.Additionally, the position is eligible for our bonus program.
