Join our team in Miami and support us on our mission.The Senior Digital Newsroom Manager oversees the strategic and operational management of FIFA's global digital newsroom, ensuring continuous, coordinated, and high-quality content delivery across FIFA's owned, earned, and shared platforms.
Reporting to the Senior Editorial & Amplification Manager, this role ensures that the newsroom generates and executes stories in alignment with FIFA's overall communications objectives. The position supports a multimedia-first approach to storytelling, maximising reach and impact through effective editorial planning, digital innovation, and streamlined workflows.
The Senior Digital Newsroom Manager works in close collaboration with various units across the Communications Division, supporting FIFA's global messaging, major initiatives, and institutional events with engaging and timely content.
Main duties
  • Find and deliver stories across platforms which support FIFA's global messaging, major initiatives, and institutional events
  • Implement and champion a multimedia-first approach to editorial content creation, ensuring consistency, scalability, and platform optimization
  • Script, shoot and edit all your own video pieces, be they social assets or VNRs
  • Write first drafts of articles for Inside FIFA and keep the FIFA blogs updated with content
  • Collaborate across divisions to align editorial strategies, integrate digital tools and AI-based innovations, and support key corporate and social campaigns
  • Manage the Miami studio and take responsibility for tagging, archival, and library systems for all relevant multimedia content
  • Ensure operational excellence through effective training, multilingual content workflows, and governance of newsroom processes and administrative functions.

THE POSITION
Newsroom management and coordination
  • Lead daily operations of FIFA's global digital newsroom to guarantee timely, accurate, and impactful publication of content across platforms
  • Maintain a 24/7 editorial capability spanning multiple time zones, enabling continuous coverage and immediate response to global developments
  • Ensure efficient coordination between newsroom, social and multimedia teams to deliver cohesive content packages that reflect FIFA's brand and strategic priorities
  • Implement newsroom processes that maximise agility, quality control, and cross-divisional collaboration

Editorial planning and execution
  • Contribute to editorial briefs and plans that integrate visual, textual, and video elements for maximum storytelling effectiveness
  • Promote and oversee a strong multimedia-first approach to content curation, ensuring all newsroom activity supports multi-platform delivery
  • Work with relevant colleagues in the Communications Division on strategies for content gathering and prioritisation
  • Align operational planning and budgeting with strategic business objectives under the guidance of the Head of Editorial & Amplification

Digital innovation and workflow optimisation
  • Collaborate with the relevant departments in the Communications Division to develop and integrate AI tools that enhance both content production and presentation
  • Drive innovation in newsroom systems and technologies, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, insight, and editorial performance
  • Oversee and maintain efficient workflows for multilingual content production, ensuring consistent use and adoption across all contributors
  • Ensure all newsroom resources and contributors are trained in digital tools, including the FIFA Content Management System, the FIFA Digital Hub and editorial planning services

Content governance and collaboration
  • Oversee content for FIFA's institutional social media channels, working closely with the responsible agency to ensure effective cross-promotion and visibility
  • Ensure all materials meet editorial standards and adhere to FIFA's tone of voice, style guides, and communication principles
  • Collaborate with relevant colleagues in the Communications Division to create and distribute multimedia assets for FIFA's corporate and social initiatives
  • Maintain close coordination with leaders across the Communications Division to ensure editorial outputs align with organisational priorities

Support to management and events
  • Support senior management in organising, briefing, preparing and delivering speeches, key messages, and digital assets for major FIFA events
  • Manage timelines and ensure quality control across event-related multilingual and multimedia-focused production and publication

Operational oversight
  • Maintain an efficient editorial back-office operation to support content production across all formats and languages
  • Oversee administrative processes related to newsroom logistics, including travel coordination, budgets, and monthly team deliverables
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the newsroom through evaluation, data analysis, and process refinement

  • Proven experience (10+ years) working in an international sports and/or media organisation - with a specific background in football and/or journalism.
  • Media communications or public relations expertise and the ability to build and maintain an audience and maintain interest over time.
  • Excellent English skills, including writing (for print and broadcast), communication, and presentation.
  • An outstanding team spirit with an entrepreneurial mindset that thrives when being challenged.

  • Expertise in video production and social media as well as standard messaging and content creation.
  • Fluent in English; Proficiency in any other FIFA language (F / ES / GER) is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel at least one week per month.
  • Readiness for stand-by duties.
  • MS Office / Advanced.
  • SAP knowledge would be an asset (Finance/Budgeting, Procurement, Governance and RFP process management).
