Job description

At Cabi, we're redefining what it means to build a fashion brand, one rooted in connection, confidence, and purpose. As a women's retail clothing company, we don't just design beautiful apparel; we create opportunities for women to express themselves, build community, and thrive both personally and professionally. Our culture is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and deeply people-first, where every team member plays a role in shaping meaningful experiences for our Stylists and clients. If you're energized by creativity, inspired by empowering others, and excited to contribute to a brand that blends style with substance, you'll find a home here.

The Senior Designer leads the creative development and execution of assigned product categories from concept through production, delivering thoughtfully designed product that reflects cabi's brand vision, quality standards, and commercial objectives. Working independently and in partnership with the Design Director and cross-functional teams, this role combines creative leadership with technical expertise to bring compelling product to life.

The Senior Designer translates market, consumer, and cultural insights into commercially relevant seasonal concepts and cohesive collections while leading the product development process through fittings, garment construction, prototype development, and final approval. This role ensures exceptional quality, fit, craftsmanship, and design integrity throughout development.

Success in this role requires exceptional design talent, strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and accountability while creating inspiring product that supports cabi's relationship-selling model and business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and execution of assigned product categories from concept through production hand-off, ensuring exceptional quality, design integrity, commercial relevance, and on-time delivery.
  • Work independently across assigned product categories, managing the complete design process while presenting concepts and facilitating discussions with Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Partner closely with the Design Director to develop seasonal collections that reflect cabi's brand vision, aesthetic, and commercial objectives.
  • Develop seasonal concepts, color palettes, silhouette direction, and category strategies that create cohesive, commercially balanced collections aligned with cabi's brand vision and business objectives.
  • Design with a holistic collection mindset, developing cohesive assortments and balanced line architecture that reflect how cabi clients shop and how Stylists sell while maintaining an uncompromising commitment to quality, craftsmanship, consistency, and brand integrity.
  • Research and interpret fashion, cultural, consumer, competitive, and market trends, translating macro insights into commercially relevant products, seasonal concepts, and compelling presentations that inspire the organization and resonate with the cabi customer.
  • Partner closely with Product Development and Technical Design throughout the development process, taking a leadership role in fittings for assigned product categories, actively contributing within the PLM system, partnering on garment construction, driving near-production-ready prototypes, and ensuring design intent is maintained through final approval.
  • Review and approve prototypes, fit samples, and production samples for assigned categories, ensuring quality, fit, construction, and execution meet cabi's design standards before production.
  • Create detailed sketches, CADs, colorways, fabric and trim specifications, print placements, and presentation materials that clearly communicate design intent and support the product development process.
  • Partner with Production and overseas vendor teams to resolve construction, quality, costing, and manufacturing challenges while maintaining design integrity, timelines, and commercial objectives.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising, Production, Marketing, overseas vendors, and other partners through clear communication, shared accountability, and proactive problem solving.
  • Manage multiple priorities with urgency and adaptability, independently owning timelines, responding quickly to changing business needs, and proactively resolving design and development challenges.
  • Develop a deep understanding of cabi's relationship-selling model by incorporating feedback from Stylists and Field partners to create product that supports storytelling, wardrobe building, and selling success.
  • Present design concepts and seasonal strategies with confidence and clarity, tailoring communication for Product teams, Executive Leadership, Marketing, Field partners, and other cross-functional audiences.

Stay current on emerging trends, textiles, construction techniques, and innovation while continually identifying opportunities to improve product, processes, and the overall design experience.

What You'll Bring

  • Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality, consistency, and craftsmanship.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions respectfully, and drive alignment across teams.
