Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated Bridge Design-Senior Engineer to be an integral part of our team in Denver, Colorado. This role will be responsible for leading and managing the bridge designs for a variety of infrastructure projects throughout the Western United States. We are looking for experience with plan, specification, and estimate packages as well as load rating experience. Your expertise will be essential in solving technical problems, mentoring junior staff, and stewarding solutions through the delivery process. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate, lead, and review designs for a variety of bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects, assuming responsibility for design plans and calculations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and a solutions-based approach.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of bridge design projects, from concept to construction, while ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, provide design recommendations, and address any concerns or questions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supervise staff as necessary to complete assignments.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; master's degree preferred.
  • Professional engineer (P.E.) license is required; structural engineer (S.E.) certification preferred.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in bridge design, including 2 years at the Project Manager/EOR level.
  • Experience working with DOTs and/or municipalities.
  • Proven experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design and DOT design guidelines.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard structural analysis and bridge design software.
  • Demonstrated success in managing preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates, as well as project scheduling and subcontractor management.
