We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Database Engineer to support our USAF contract on Robbins AFB, GA. This project is in support of the 402d Software Engineering Group (SWEG) at Robins Air Force Base, GA. The Senior Database Engineerย supports the 402d SWEGโ€™s mission by working closely with engineers, developers, administrators and other technical teams supporting a variety of weapon system platforms and airframes such as the F-15 and F-35 fighters, the B-1B bomber, the C-5 and C-130 cargo planes, the MQ-9 Reaper and the HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter.ย  All work will be performed on base.ย

Responsibilities

Senior Database Engineers play crucial roles in the development, integration, and maintenance of advanced military technologies. Below is an overview of the typical responsibilities associated with this role:

  • Design & Architecture: Develop and maintain secure, scalable database architectures using Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, aligned with DoD standards and mission requirements.
  • Optimization & Reliability: Apply advanced tuning techniques, clustering, replication, and failover strategies to ensure high availability and peak performance for operational systems.
  • Integration & Support: Collaborate with software teams to integrate databases into weapon system applications, leveraging SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and modern data modeling practices throughout development and deployment.
  • Data Security & Integrity: Implement robust backup, recovery, and cybersecurity measures, including DISA STIG compliance, to protect sensitive mission data across classified environments.
  • Project Coordination: Develop plans, coordinate work teams, and provide technical support to project team members, ensuring successful project execution.

These responsibilities are critical to supporting the mission of the 402nd SWEG, which focuses on software development and maintenance for various weapon systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree(any) with 8 years of experience OR HS and 9 years of experience
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Security+CE certification
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with database design and administration in at least one of the following:
    • Data analysis
    • Database design
    • Development activities
    • Database conversions/migrations
    • Instantiation of databases
  • Experience with:
    • Managing compliance to database administration procedures, standards, and guidelines
    • Centralized data repositories
    • Data diodes and data replications across classifications or hybrid cloud environments
    • Database architecture and implementations leveraging cloud technologies, including AWS or MS Azure

AND

  • Proficient in one or more of the following:
    • SQL
    • PostGres
    • MongoDB
    • Similar database languages
  • Individual will be expected to perform at a Senior/SME level with minimal to no assistance from junior level organic staff

Schedule

  • Facilities are open 6am-6pm - you can work with your customer leadership to set hours
  • You can flex time during the 2 week pay cycle - avoid using PTO for appointments
  • A compressed work schedule may be available at the discretion of work center leadership (i.e. 4/10 or 9/80)
