Job description

cFocus Software seeks a Sr. Database Administrator to join our program supporting the United States Air Force. This position is onsite with the onsite location being in Ellsworth, South Dakota. This position requires a TS/SCI SSBI clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI SSBI clearance
  • B.S. Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 10+ years of Database Administration experience
  • Advanced experience administering and engineering enterprise IBM DB2 databases in high-availability, mission-critical environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in DB2 schema design, data modeling, database objects, SQL, query optimization, indexing, statistics, storage, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database performance engineering, capacity analysis, monitoring, root cause analysis, and sustainable corrective action.
  • Experience engineering and validating backup, restore, recovery, data protection, integrity, resilience, COOP, and disaster-recovery capabilities.
  • Experience integrating DB2 with WebSphere middleware and underlying Windows/Linux, virtualization, storage, network, identity, and application infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management, technical baselines, controlled changes, patching, upgrades, deployment validation, and post-change performance verification.
  • Ability to provide Level III support involving advanced diagnostics, log/trace analysis, debugging, fault isolation, and resolution of complex cross-stack problems.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity control implementation, vulnerability remediation, least privilege, database auditing, RMF/A&A evidence, and DoD/Air Force compliance.
  • Strong technical documentation, quality-control, automation/scripting, problem-solving, stakeholder-coordination, and communication skills.

Duties:
  • Provide senior-level DB2 database engineering, administration, sustainment, and technical support for FMWF production and associated environments.
  • Design, review, implement, and maintain database schemas, objects, structures, relationships, indexes, storage configurations, and data architecture.
  • Perform database performance analysis, workload assessment, capacity planning, query optimization, index tuning, statistics maintenance, and root cause engineering.
  • Monitor database availability, health, utilization, locking, logging, storage, replication or recovery dependencies, and other performance indicators; resolve degradation proactively.
  • Protect data integrity and consistency through technical controls, validation, reconciliation, constraint management, and disciplined database-change practices.
  • Engineer, execute, test, and document backup, restoration, recovery, off-site protection, and resilience capabilities consistent with data sensitivity and mission requirements.
  • Develop and validate database recovery procedures and support COOP, disaster recovery, contingency, routine maintenance, and emergency corrective actions.
  • Ensure reliable cross-stack integration among DB2 databases, WebSphere middleware, application components, Windows/Linux systems, virtualization, storage, identity services, and security tooling.
  • Analyze proposed database and system modifications, assess dependencies and risks, implement approved changes, and validate post-deployment performance.
  • Maintain configuration baselines and technical documentation for database software, parameters, schemas, jobs, interfaces, backup/recovery settings, and operating procedures.
  • Engineer, test, and validate database patches, upgrades, fixes, security directives, and configuration changes in controlled development/test environments before production release.
  • Support test data management and ensure development/test database assets are protected and controlled.
  • Conduct advanced diagnostics, log and trace analysis, fault isolation, debugging, and sustainable corrective engineering as Level III technical escalation support.
  • Coordinate with system administrators, WebSphere/middleware engineers, developers, cybersecurity personnel, program management, and Government stakeholders.
  • Implement and sustain applicable security controls, vulnerability remediation, least-privilege access, auditability, and authorization evidence for database components.
  • Support technical reviews, configuration reviews, readiness reviews, change management, QASP performance monitoring, and production-readiness decisions.
  • Maintain accurate, version-controlled engineering records, performance data, test results, recovery evidence, procedures, and status reports.
