Job Summary
The Lead Analyst Database Support -Exadata DBA serves as technical lead within the Infrastructure's Database and Middleware team. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality delivery of Database Admin services within the company's Oracle Exadata Database Machine environments. The Lead acts as an escalation point for complex issues, partners with management on work assignments, and helps guide the technical direction of the team.
This position is ideal for a highly skilled Information Technology professional with Oracle Exadata and Oracle RDBMS admin experience who enjoys mentoring others, driving technical excellence, and contributing both strategically and hands-on when required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership & Expertise
    • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Oracle Exadata database machines, Storage cell administration, Disk Configuration, resource prioritization and Network management in Exadata racks as well as database administration on Real Application clusters (RAC) and configuring and managing Oracle Data Guard environments.
    • Applying quarterly full-stack updates/patches to the Exadata System Software, hypervisors, Grid Infrastructure, and Oracle Database layers.
    • Design, implement, and manage database backups, restoration processes, and disaster recovery configurations via tools like Recovery Manager (RMAN).
    • Ability to configure and administer storage cells, compute nodes, and network RoCE switches
    • Configuring and maintaining Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Automatic Storage Management (ASM) for continuous up time and high availability.
    • Perform proactive capacity planning and resource monitoring with recommendations for system improvement.
    • Manage and monitor environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
    • Represent the team in technical discussions, project meetings, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Provide advanced technical guidance and architectural input as required.
  • Escalation & Problem Solving
    • Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues raised by Specialists and team members.
    • Apply strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex infrastructure and database-related challenges.
  • Team Mentorship & Development
    • Mentor team members through one-on-one coaching, knowledge-sharing sessions, and structured training opportunities.
    • Foster a culture of continuous skill development within the team.
  • Work Assignment & Coordination
    • Coordinate with management to track all project and operational tasks affecting the Database & Middleware team.
    • Assist with prioritizing and assigning work to ensure timely completion of deliverables and service-level commitments.
    • Ensure availability to support the team as technical and leadership needs arise.
  • Procurement & Budget Participation
    • Support procurement activities, including preparing technical requirements, completing documentation, and assisting with third-party assessments.
  • Operational Support
    • When necessary, assist with day-to-day operations including incident response, troubleshooting issues, patching, troubleshooting, and server administration.
    • Step in to perform tasks when team workload or deadlines require it.
    • Provide 24x7 on-call support.
    • Travel as required within the US
  • Project Participation
    • Support project-based work such as:
    • Building or configuring physical servers, provisioning new VMs and virtual server environments
    • Submitting firewall or networking requests for projects.
    • Providing technical design and architectural recommendations
    • Take ownership of tasks when no other resources are available or when the work provides opportunities to train team members.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: BS/BA Degree in Business, Computer Science, or other technical discipline. MA/MS Degree preferred. Will consider additional years of relevant experience and/or related technical certifications in lieu of degree requirement (in accordance with the FLSA Computer Professionals Exemption).
  • Meet at least one of the following:
    • AS Technical Related Degree with 8 years' technical experience.
    • BS Technical Related Degree with 6 years' technical experience
    • MS Technical Related Degree with 4 years' technical experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience working with Oracle Exadata database machines.
  • Oracle Exadata expertise including managing storage cells, compute nodes, and network RoCE switches
  • Experience in Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL)/Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Unix Operating systems
  • Scripting skills using Unix/Linux shells, Python, or other similar scripting languages.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams or mentor junior colleagues
  • Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with enterprise environments and ITIL-oriented workflows
  • Understanding of Oracle Processor-Core metrics and Exadata-specific software licensing models
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
