Job description

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for Cummins, Inc. in De Pere, WI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Lead end-to-end manufacturing process development and implementation for assigned projects.

  • Ensure all processes meet safety standards, product specifications, and business goals.

  • Apply manufacturing engineering principles to optimize equipment performance and production efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement using tools and methodologies aligned with Cummins standards.

  • Develop and standardize manufacturing processes, procedures, and work methods.

  • Collaborate with and influence internal teams, external stakeholders, and business leaders.

  • Manage project execution by coordinating internal and external resources.

  • Build strong relationships and coach key stakeholders while sharing advanced manufacturing expertise.

  • Plans, designs, and implements improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and material flow systems to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Applies industrial engineering principles (process design, labor analysis, ergonomics, capacity planning, and workflow optimization) to improve manufacturing performance and efficiency
  • Integrates product requirements into effective, standardized, and repeatable manufacturing processes that support high-mix, low-volume operations 

Continuous Improvement, Safety, and Quality Performance

  • Leads and supports continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools and structured problem-solving methods to improve flow, productivity, and cost
  • Identifies and implements process changes to reduce safety risks, improve ergonomics, and eliminate waste in manufacturing and material handling environments
  • Improves process capability and product quality by addressing root causes of defects and implementing sustainable corrective actions 

Standard Work, Implementation & Operational Support

  • Develops and maintains standard work, process documentation, and manufacturing instructions to ensure consistent execution
  • Supports manufacturing operations by implementing process improvements, equipment changes, and facility-related updates aligned to business needs
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and provides day-to-day engineering support to sustain and improve manufacturing performance

  • Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace. 

  • Manufacturing Knowledge - Learn how each piece of equipment works and how it contributes to the overall production flow. Keep up with new technologies, lean manufacturing principles, and process optimization techniques. Work with engineering, quality, and operations to implement changes that improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Process Documentation - Write procedures that are easy to follow, with step-by-step instructions and visual aids if possible. Get stakeholder buy-in by involving operators, supervisors, and quality teams in reviewing and validating procedures.

  • Problem Solving - Apply tools to analyze and resolve issues. Collect and analyze relevant data before jumping to conclusions. Share your approach with others and encourage team-based problem solving.
