Job description

ZoomInfo is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to drive our customer insights and competitive intelligence strategy, leading analyses that shape how we evolve our data products to meet customer needs and maintain market leadership.

In this role, you'll become the expert on customer experience with our data product and ZoomInfo's competitive landscape. You'll design rigorous analyses (understanding complex problems, forming hypotheses, testing with data, and delivering well-backed recommendations) that translate customer feedback, market trends, and competitive movements into strategic priorities. This isn't about building dashboards or SQL reports. This is about strategic analysis that drives decision-making and ensures our data products continuously evolve to power GTM and agentic workflows for sales and marketing professionals.

As a trusted advisor to Product, Engineering, and Data Leadership, you'll progressively own more of the customer insights strategy and lead larger strategic initiatives. This is a role with a significant growth runway for someone who wants to become the go-to expert on customer-driven data strategy and competitive positioning.

 Who You Are

Strategic Thinker with Analytical Depth: You understand how to translate customer data and market intelligence into actionable strategy. You've worked with customer analytics, product intelligence, or competitive analysis. Maybe you've shaped product strategy, identified market opportunities, or driven data-driven prioritization. You don't just execute-you have informed opinions on what matters, and you're comfortable saying "here's what we should do and why" based on your analytical understanding and business judgment.

Growth-Oriented Problem Solver: You're excited to build deep expertise in customer analytics and competitive intelligence and grow into leading strategic initiatives. You're equally comfortable designing quantitative analyses and conducting qualitative research, connecting data patterns to business impact. You thrive in evolving environments where priorities shift and problems aren't always well-defined, maintaining momentum and quality even when the path forward isn't perfectly clear.

Clear Communicator: You can build compelling narratives that drive decisions, whether through presentations, written reports, or demos. You're skilled at distilling complex analyses, defending recommendations, and translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

What You'll Do

In your first 12-18 months, your primary focus will be building a customer feedback framework that drives prioritization and establishing yourself as the customer insights expert. You'll work with team members who have context on our data products and systems, learning the landscape while bringing fresh analytical perspectives and strategic depth. As you gain mastery, you'll increasingly own customer insights strategy and lead strategic data improvement initiatives.

Build Deep Customer & Product Intelligence Expertise
  • Analyze customer behavior patterns, feedback data, and usage metrics to understand how customers experience our data and where opportunities for improvement exist in coverage, quality, and depth
  • Master ZoomInfo's competitive landscape: who our competitors are, what data they offer (company, person, and intelligence signals), how they're evolving, and where differentiation opportunities exist
  • Develop standardized frameworks for evaluating competitive threats such as data models backed by multiple sources that provide cadenced competitive intelligence
  • Create clear intelligence briefs, customer insights reports, and strategic recommendations that inform data product roadmaps
Drive Strategic Prioritization Through Analysis & Insight
  • Build and maintain a customer feedback framework leveraging internal tools that track customer platform usage, unstructured data from customer feedback sources like call recordings, and other data assets to establish yourself as the go-to expert, especially for technical stakeholders with less customer and competitive knowledge
  • Influence prioritization conversations about data product roadmaps by bringing customer insights, competitive intelligence, and informed opinions on strategic direction
  • Translate customer pain points and emerging competitive trends into concrete data improvement opportunities and strategic recommendations
Lead Complex, Forward-Looking Strategic Initiatives
  • Identify and lead strategic opportunities for future-looking core data initiatives based on customer needs and competitive gaps-such as new data sources, expanded attributes, improved coverage, or new intelligence signals. These analyses may range from week-long investigations to month-long strategic projects
  • Combine customer analytics, competitive research, understanding of ZoomInfo's data pipelines, and business judgment to solve complex problems and drive buy-in for strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product to assess technical feasibility and shape solution approaches
Build Partnerships & Institutional Knowledge
  • Develop strong working relationships with Product, Engineering, Data Leadership, and fellow data analysts
  • Conduct impact analyses that quantify how core data product improvements affect coverage, accuracy, and depth, validating whether strategic initiatives deliver intended customer or competitive outcomes
  • Document your learning, approaches, and insights so customer and competitive knowledge is shared across the team
  • Serve as a strategic resource, helping bridge immediate customer or competitive needs with long-term data capabilities
 What You'll BringRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, customer analytics, product analytics or related strategic roles (these backgrounds are interchangeable)
  • Experience conducting customer analytics, market research, or competitive analysis that informed product or business strategy
  • Ability to design and execute rigorous analyses, solving ambiguous, multi-faceted business problems that required figuring out the approach and delivering well-backed recommendations that drive decisions
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL for data analysis and manipulation. You may use AI tools to accelerate coding, but should be capable of building technical proof-of-concepts or experimental tools independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Product and/or Engineering teams, translating between analytical findings and strategic business needs
  • Excellent communication skills: able to build compelling narratives and explain strategic recommendations to diverse audiences
  • Self-directed with strong ownership mentality: you drive your work forward and know when to seek input
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience with B2B data products, business intelligence platforms, or data-as-a-product companies
  • Experience with customer analytics, product analytics, or usage data analysis
  • Background in competitive intelligence or market research
  • Knowledge of GTM workflows, sales intelligence tools, or B2B go-to-market strategies
  • Experience creating strategic frameworks or conducting impact assessments
  • Track record of leading or co-leading cross-functional strategic initiatives
This Role Is Not a Fit If:

You're looking to focus primarily on building dashboards or data engineering architecture, creating reports, or tracking ongoing metrics. While you'll conduct strategic analyses and need general knowledge of ZoomInfo's data pipelines to inform your recommendations, the core mission is forward-looking strategic analysis focused on customer insights and competitive intelligence, not operational reporting or production engineering.

This Role Is a Strong Fit If:

You want to become an expert on customer-driven data strategy and competitive positioning and grow into leading strategic initiatives. You're excited to build deep analytical expertise, contribute informed opinions to prioritization decisions, and progressively take on more ownership as you master the domain. You enjoy solving problems where the answer isn't obvious and seeing your analysis directly shape product direction.
