Lab Technician Sr. – 3rd Shift
Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Shift: 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AMJob Summary

Seeking a detail-oriented Senior Laboratory Technician to support analytical laboratory operations by performing sample processing, data analysis, documentation, and quality assurance activities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, experience in an analytical laboratory environment, and knowledge of GC/MS and LC/MS/MS instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with laboratory protocols.
  • Verify sample identification and confirm the accuracy of sample sequencing for analytical batches.
  • Operate analytical instruments and process acquired data using GC/MS and LC/MS/MS systems.
  • Perform first-level review of analytical data in accordance with assay-specific SOPs.
  • Generate analytical reports and ensure accurate transcription or upload of test results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS/LIS).
  • Maintain complete and accurate Chain of Custody (COC) documentation for all laboratory batches.
  • Monitor data quality and identify discrepancies or deviations, escalating issues to supervisors as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle biological specimens, laboratory chemicals, reagents, and analytical equipment safely.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and supervisors to maintain efficient workflow and timely sample processing.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an analytical laboratory.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation, preferably GC/MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) and/or LC/MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry).
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS/LIS) and Chain of Custody documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently during overnight (3rd shift) operations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and quality control standards.
  • Ability to safely handle biological specimens, chemicals, laboratory equipment, and analytical instruments.
