This is an excellent opportunity for a strong writer and storyteller who can translate an organization’s mission and priorities into compelling content for donors, families, community partners, and other key audiences. The Marketing & Communications Manager will oversee communications across email, websites, social media, print, public relations, and donor-facing campaigns while partnering closely with the development and fundraising team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is highly organized, creative, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple communications channels in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization’s day-to-day communications across email, websites, social media, print, and earned media.
  • Develop compelling, mission-aligned content for a variety of audiences, including donors, community partners, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, voice, and branding across all communications channels.
  • Use engagement and performance data to evaluate and continuously improve communications strategies.

Donor & Fundraising Communications

  • Partner closely with the development and fundraising team to create compelling donor-facing communications.
  • Draft and produce fundraising appeals, donor stewardship materials, campaign communications, invitations, and other development collateral.
  • Help translate organizational programs, outcomes, and impact into stories that inspire engagement and financial support.
  • Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across donor and development touchpoints.
  • Support annual reports and other major organizational publications in collaboration with development and leadership.

Email Marketing

  • Manage the organization’s email marketing program, including newsletters, donor communications, fundraising campaigns, and other targeted communications.
  • Build, schedule, and distribute email campaigns using an email marketing platform.
  • Maintain and segment email lists to ensure appropriate targeting and messaging.
  • Track open rates, click-through rates, and other engagement metrics to improve campaign performance.

Website Management

  • Maintain and update multiple organizational websites, ensuring content is accurate, current, engaging, and consistent with brand standards.
  • Coordinate with outside website vendors on larger updates, redesigns, and technical needs.
  • Update internal and stakeholder portals with relevant organizational news and information.
  • Monitor website analytics and use performance data to inform content and structural improvements.

Social Media

  • Manage the organization’s social media presence across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms.
  • Develop and execute a social media content strategy that supports organizational, fundraising, and community engagement priorities.
  • Create platform-specific content designed to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Coordinate and oversee social media contractors or freelancers as needed.
  • Monitor and report on social media performance and adjust strategies based on results.

Public Relations & Earned Media

  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison with outside public relations partners.
  • Coordinate press opportunities, interview requests, media outreach, and research projects.
  • Draft and coordinate press releases and other media materials in partnership with leadership and external PR resources.
  • Track earned media coverage and report on visibility and PR outcomes.
  • Support crisis communications efforts as needed in coordination with organizational leadership.

Print & Digital Collateral

  • Create and manage print and digital materials, including brochures, flyers, signage, fundraising materials, and donor-facing collateral.
  • Coordinate with designers, vendors, and contractors on larger creative projects.
  • Handle smaller graphic design projects using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.
  • Oversee the development and production of major organizational publications, including the annual report.

Event Marketing Support

  • Partner with event staff to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Capture photos, stories, and content at programs, events, and donor presentations for use across communications channels.
  • This role supports events from a marketing and communications perspective and does not own event logistics or day-of event execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, development communications, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a nonprofit, foundation, educational, social services, or other mission-driven organization strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor communications, development campaigns, or donor engagement initiatives highly desired.
  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts and developing platform-specific content strategies.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt messaging for donors, community partners, and diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools.
  • Experience with website content management systems such as WordPress or similar platforms.
