What is a senior data analyst machine learning?

A Senior Data Analyst in Machine Learning is a professional who analyzes large datasets to extract insights and supports the development and implementation of machine learning models. They often work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to identify trends, prepare data, and ensure the quality and relevance of data used in machine learning projects. Their role typically includes advanced data analysis, developing data pipelines, creating reports, and interpreting the results of machine learning models to drive business decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior data analyst machine learning?

To thrive as a Senior Data Analyst Machine Learning, you need strong analytical skills, expertise in statistics, and advanced proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, typically supported by a degree in a quantitative field. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch), data visualization tools, and experience with SQL databases are essential, along with relevant certifications like Google Data Analytics or AWS Machine Learning. Outstanding problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and the capacity to communicate complex concepts clearly make individuals stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for extracting actionable insights from data, building effective predictive models, and driving data-driven decision-making within organizations.

How does a senior data analyst machine learning typically collaborate with data science and engineering teams?

As a Senior Data Analyst with a focus on Machine Learning, you'll work closely with both data science and engineering teams to bridge the gap between data insights and model deployment. You may be responsible for preparing and analyzing large datasets, communicating findings and business needs to data scientists, and ensuring that machine learning models are implemented effectively. Regular collaboration includes participating in code reviews, refining feature engineering, and translating technical results into actionable business recommendations. This cross-functional teamwork is key to ensuring that projects move smoothly from conception to production.

Position Overview:

Are you ready to dive into the world of big data and complex algorithms? We’re seeking a Senior Data Analyst/Scientist to become a key technical contributor on our Complex Algorithm Team. If you're passionate about solving complex business and technical problems, working with large-scale data, streamlining data processes, and transforming intricate data into actionable insights, this is the opportunity for you! You’ll be working alongside a talented development team, using your advanced SQL and Snowflake expertise, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization to develop and optimize innovative data products and solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth and the ability to independently drive projects from problem definition through implementation and delivery.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform advanced analysis and produce complex data models, insights, and analytics from our Geo-Signals Cloud (big data) in support of the development of our data products.
  • Leverage Snowflake for developing efficient data models, optimizing query performance, and ensuring data is structured appropriately for analytical and product use cases.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and data transformations in Snowflake, working with large and complex datasets to support analytics and production data products.
  • Support data improvement and data quality efforts by highlighting and communicating data issues observed when producing data and analytics products.
  • Develop and apply algorithms to identify patterns, extract information, uncover insights, and solve complex analytical problems from complex and noisy datasets.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in information security, with at least 3 years concentrated on cloud security within AWS environments. Certifications (e.g., CISSP, AWS Certified Security Specialty, etc.) are preferred.
  • Deep understanding of AWS architecture, security services, and best practices for securing cloud applications and data.
  • Experience integrating security into engineering, DevOps, and cloud environments.
  • Solid knowledge of network security, encryption technologies, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with security frameworks, standards, and best practices, including hands-on experience with incident response, risk assessment, penetration testing, and security audits.
  • Awareness of emerging security threats, trends, and new technologies impacting the field.
  • Excellent analytical skills for identifying and mitigating complex security vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex security topics for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality, eager to own, build, and execute security initiatives at all levels
  • Experience developing or contributing to acceptable use policies and security guardrails for AI tools (coding assistants, LLM APIs, agentic systems) in a corporate or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with AI-specific risks including prompt injection, data leakage through model providers, model supply chain concerns, and the security implications of agentic tools with action-taking capabilities.
  • Ability to evaluate AI vendors and their data handling practices (training opt-outs, data retention, regional processing) against compliance requirements.
What we expect of you
  • Demonstrate a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Contribute to a positive and enjoyable work environment.
  • We operate like a startup, so things change fast, you need to be agile and proactive.
  • Personal characteristics we value include: high integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, innovative thinking, team player, passion for technology, adaptability, high energy and attention to detail.
