Job description

Bring your expertise to JPMorganChase. As part of Risk Management and Compliance, you are at the center of keeping the firm strong and resilient. You help the firm grow its business responsibly by anticipating new and emerging risks, applying expert judgment to complex credit decisions, and solving real-world challenges that impact our company, clients, and communities.

Our culture in Risk Management and Compliance is built on thinking outside the box, challenging the status quo, and striving to be best-in-class.

As a Credit Risk Executive Director supporting Latin America and Global Families within Asset & Wealth Management, you will provide senior credit risk oversight for a complex, cross-border portfolio of ultra-high-net-worth and global family relationships. You will evaluate and approve sophisticated credit exposures, provide credible challenge on new money and annual reviews, monitor emerging portfolio risks, and help strengthen governance, escalation, and control disciplines across the region and client segment. This role requires strong judgment, executive communication, and the ability to partner closely with banking, underwriting, legal, compliance, operations, and senior risk leadership while maintaining independence and a strong risk mindset.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead credit risk oversight and portfolio management, ensuring decisions align with risk appetite, governance standards, and cross-border considerations.
  • Evaluate, structure, and approve complex credit exposures within delegated authority, including new credit requests, annual reviews, amendments, refinancings, and material facility changes.
  • Apply senior risk judgment to bespoke private banking transactions, including secured lending, collateral-dependent structures, margin lending, and other complex or non-standard exposures.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor portfolio concentrations and key risk drivers (client, country, collateral, liquidity, market, and reputational), escalating emerging issues clearly and promptly.
  • Lead thematic portfolio reviews and risk assessments, connecting business strategy, portfolio performance, credit migration, risk appetite, and forward-looking risks into actionable conclusions.
  • Provide credible challenge to bankers, underwriters, and business leadership while supporting responsible growth and a strong risk and control environment.
  • Partner with business, underwriting, legal, compliance, operations, and control stakeholders to lead high-quality credit decisions, clear accountability, and effective monitoring of approved exposures.
  • Ensure risk exceptions, control issues, documentation gaps, collateral concerns, and monitoring weaknesses are identified, escalated, remediated, and tracked to closure.
  • Enhance risk policies, underwriting standards, approval practices, governance frameworks, and operating procedures relevant to cross-border wealth management credit activity.
  • Produce clear, concise, decision-oriented analysis for senior management reporting and governance discussions on portfolio trends, emerging risks, and key exposures.
  • Develop and mentor talent through coaching, feedback, transaction guidance, and a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, credit risk management, lending, underwriting, private banking, wealth management, corporate banking, commercial banking, legal, or related risk disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and approving complex credit exposures, with the ability to apply senior judgment in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk principles, portfolio management, collateral analysis, risk rating methodologies, governance frameworks, control environments, and escalation disciplines.
  • Experience managing or advising on complex client relationships, bespoke structures, cross-border considerations, concentrated collateral, or elevated-risk portfolios.
  • Ability to identify emerging risks, portfolio trends, concentrations, and thematic risk drivers and translate them into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to provide credible challenges, influence stakeholders, and interact effectively with senior business and risk leaders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with the ability to balance client, business, and risk management considerations without compromising risk discipline.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex credit issues clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated experience applying policies, standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements within credit decisioning, monitoring, escalation, and governance processes.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities, live transactions, portfolio topics, and senior stakeholder requests in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's, JD, or related discipline).
  • Experience in private banking, wealth management, Latin America, Global Families, international client coverage, or cross-border credit risk management.
  • Experience with securities-based lending, margin lending, collateralized lending, structured credit, concentrated equity positions, art, aircraft, yacht, real estate, or other bespoke collateral types.
  • Experience leading portfolio reviews, thematic risk assessments, governance forums, or senior management presentations.
  • Experience developing talent through coaching, mentoring, transaction guidance, and leadership.
  • Experience leveraging portfolio analytics, risk reporting, automation, artificial intelligence, or other technology-enabled tools to improve risk management processes.
  • Professional certifications related to risk management, finance, accounting, banking, or compliance
