About the Position

The company is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Property Controller to join its corporate accounting team in Dallas, Texas.

Reporting directly to both the Controller and Managing Director, this position will provide leadership for a team of Senior Accountants while helping oversee the financial reporting and accounting operations supporting the company's growing real estate portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional ready to step into a highly visible leadership role with significant exposure to executive management and opportunities for long-term career advancement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day accounting operations for a growing real estate portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3โ€“4 Senior Accountants, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and professional development.
  • Review financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audit activities.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide timely financial analysis and operational insights.
  • Help improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls as the company continues to grow.
  • Collaborate across departments to support acquisitions, development projects, and ongoing portfolio management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Previous leadership experience managing accounting staff, including 3โ€“5 years supervising a team.
  • Experience within real estate, construction, property management, investment, or development accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience overseeing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
