Description:

The Plant Controller is a senior, hands-on finance leader and a core member of the local leadership team, partnering closely with the President, Production Manager, Procurement, and corporate finance. This role owns the day-to-day execution of plant accounting while driving stronger financial discipline, operational insight, and scalable processes across the business.


The Plant Controller is responsible for financial statement preparation and review, reporting and analysis, product costing, key performance metric monitoring, and active management of working capital and cash flow. This position plays a critical role in strengthening financial visibility at the plant level and translating financial results into clear, actionable insights for operational and executive leaders.


In addition, the Plant Controller oversees, develops, and mentors accounting and administrative staff and serves as a key resource to shop floor leadership on the accurate and effective use of the Company’s ERP system. The ideal candidate is both strategic and detail-oriented, comfortable working in the weeds while also stepping back to improve processes, controls, and decision-making.


This role offers the opportunity to have a direct, visible impact on plant performance while partnering with corporate leadership on broader financial and operation al initiatives in a dynamic manufacturing environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting.
  • Execute month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including standard cost and overhead rate development.
  • Develop and maintain consistent costing methodologies across manufacturing, inventory, and procurement.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on key financial and operational metrics.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Procurement to support cost control, capital project requests, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and financial standards.
  • Supervise and develop administrative and accounting support staff.
  • Serve as a resource to plant and corporate management in understanding and interpreting financial results.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of standard cost accounting, inventory control, and manufacturing operations.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Experience with GSS ERP or similar enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial audiences.
  • Proven leadership and process improvement skills.
