Job description

In this role, you'll:
Develop short- and long-term content roadmaps aligned to client and crew needs, business priorities, and brand aspirations
Serve as editorial turning complex ideas across investing, financial planning, and wealth management into clear, compelling, thought leadership and written and visual communications
Influence senior stakeholders and partner across Marketing, Advice & Solutions, Investment Strategy Group, Personal Wealth client groups, OGC, and Communications
Activate content across channels - Internal, External, and emerging AI-enabled experiences

Core Responsibilities

1. Leads the development of thought leadership, communications, and content strategies on a range of subjects, including Vanguard investment philosophies, products and services, financial planning, markets and the economy, regulatory matters, portfolio construction and theory, and strategic business initiatives. Serves as lead writer, editor, and managing editor, partnering with subject matter experts, executives, and stakeholders to transform complex concepts into clear, compelling, audience-centric content and insights.

2. Develops strategic content roadmaps, editorial plans, and integrated content strategies. Oversees content portfolios across business priorities and channels, leveraging research, analytics, and stakeholder insights to identify content opportunities, coordinate editorial priorities, optimize content effectiveness, and drive activation across audiences and platforms..

3. Expertly presents content strategies, editorial recommendations, and thought leadership initiatives to senior management, project teams, partners, and stakeholders. Champions content solutions that advance business objectives and improve audience engagement, understanding, and outcomes.

4. Manages content portfolios and editorial priorities to ensure consistency, quality, clarity, and alignment with Vanguard standards. Partners across the enterprise to coordinate messaging, themes, and content activation across channels and platforms.

5. Provides strategic direction and guidance on content strategy, thought leadership, editorial standards, and messaging to senior leaders and business partners. Leads the development of new approaches, capabilities, governance processes, and operating models.

6. Serves as a coach and mentor by providing specific feedback on content strategy, writing, editing, storytelling, editorial planning, and content development practices.

7. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Eight years related work experience. Five years of experience in content strategy, communications, editorial leadership, thought leadership, content marketing, journalism, publishing, or related fields.

  • Professional designations such as CFP, CFA, CIMA, or similar financial planning, investment, or industry credentials are a plus.
