JOB DESCRIPTION:

This Desktop Support Technician role supports the Departments IT infrastructure by maintaining and upgrading end-user devices, implementing cloud-based collaboration tools, and providing remote and on-site technical support. The position is part of a collaborative team focused on delivering reliable security, and user-friendly technology services to agency staff. Work with other Data Center to set up new clients or to change existing clients' hardware and software configurations. 

  • This position is not approved for teleworking and must report to the location listed above.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Note: The omission of specific job duties does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

  • Upgrade and maintain devices to the latest agency-approved version of Windows 11.
  • Deploy and support Microsoft 365 applications across user devices. 
  • Provide remote and onsite support for teleworking employees using:
  • Microsoft Remote Assistance and Remote Help for secure, real-time troubleshooting.
  • Microsoft Teams for chat-based support, screen sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. 
  • Assist with backing up Data Center Help Desk. 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for supported hardware and software. 
  • Reconfigure workstations for new and existing users, including hardware and software setup. 
  • Collaborate with Data Center teams to onboard new users and modify existing configurations. 
  • Research, evaluate, and test emerging technologies aligned with team goals. 
  • Asist with implementing collaboration and cloud-based tools such as Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and M365.
  • Support mobile devices and application management tools, including Intune, BitLocker, and Azure Active Directory. 
  • Participate in on-call or callback rotations as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required Licensure/Registration/Certification/Experience or Education:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues independently or collaboratively. 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of PC hardware, Windows operating systems, and Microsoft 365 Applications. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Remote Assistance, Remote Help, and Teams for remote support and collaboration. 
  • Experience with mobile device management and encryption tools.
  • Ability to evaluate data and make informed decisions. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. 
  • Commitment to producing high-quality, efficient, and user-focused services.

LEAVE INFORMATION: (CS)

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
    • Sick Leave -. Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month

 BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
