Job description

Description:

 About AGSE

AGSE designs and manufactures aircraft engine transportation, maintenance, and ground support equipment used by commercial airlines, engine manufacturers, MROs, and military organizations worldwide.

As AGSE continues to grow globally, we are investing in the digital transformation of our engineering organization. Our goal is to create a complete digital product definition for both legacy and future products, enabling greater efficiency, improved manufacturing, and a stronger foundation for future engineering automation.

We're looking for an experienced Senior CAD Designer who wants to play a central role in that transformation.

Position Summary

This is more than a traditional CAD position.

The Senior CAD Designer will work with the Engineering Systems Specialist to lead the conversion of AGSE's legacy engineering documentation into intelligent, fully defined 3D digital product models. This role will help establish the engineering data that supports manufacturing today while building the digital foundation for tomorrow's automation and product lifecycle initiatives.

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Document Control, you will convert 2D drawings into accurate parametric 3D models, develop structured assemblies and Bills of Materials, and prepare engineering data for integration with Autodesk Vault, ERP, and future engineering systems.

Your work will directly influence how AGSE designs, manufactures, manages, and supports its products for years to come.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert legacy 2D engineering drawings into fully constrained Autodesk Inventor 3D models.
  • Develop complete assembly models that accurately represent released product designs.
  • Create structured Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support manufacturing and ERP integration.
  • Generate production drawings from 3D models in accordance with company drafting standards.
  • Ensure CAD models accurately reflect engineering intent and released documentation.
  • Prepare engineering data for integration with Autodesk Vault, ERP, and other digital engineering systems.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by updating CAD models and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Document Control to ensure engineering data supports efficient production.
  • Develop and maintain CAD standards, templates, libraries, and best practices.
  • Recommend improvements that increase the quality, consistency, and long-term value of AGSE's engineering database.
  • Prepare CAD data to support future engineering automation, configuration management, digital manufacturing,      and other strategic engineering initiatives.
  • Assist in establishing scalable engineering workflows that improve the accuracy, accessibility, and lifecycle management of engineering data.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional mechanical CAD experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Extensive experience creating complex mechanical assemblies and production drawings.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation and drafting standards.
  • Experience developing Bills of Materials for manufactured products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret legacy engineering documentation and translate it into accurate digital models.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

  • ERP or MRP systems (Epicor)
  • Product lifecycle management (Autodesk Vault PLM/PDM)
  • Weldments
  • Machined components
  • Design automation (iLogic)
  • Configurable assemblies
  • Aerospace or industrial equipment manufacturing

 Success in This Role

A successful candidate will:

  • Produce highly accurate 3D CAD models from legacy documentation.
  • Build ERP-ready BOMs that support purchasing and manufacturing.
  • Improve consistency across AGSE's engineering database.
  • Identify documentation issues before they become manufacturing problems.
  • Help establish a reliable digital product definition for both current and legacy products.

Why Join AGSE?

This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the future of AGSE's engineering organization.

Rather than supporting individual design projects, you'll help build the digital engineering infrastructure that enables faster product development, more efficient manufacturing, improved configuration management, and scalable engineering processes across the company.

Your work will become the foundation upon which future products, manufacturing initiatives, and engineering automation are built.

If you're passionate about creating accurate digital product definitions, improving engineering systems, and leaving a lasting legacy through data quality and innovation, we'd like to hear from you.
