What is a senior center?

A Senior Center is a community facility that provides a variety of services, activities, and resources specifically designed for older adults, typically those aged 60 and above. These centers often offer social, educational, recreational, and wellness programs to help seniors stay active, engaged, and connected with others. Many senior centers also provide meals, transportation, health screenings, and access to social services. Their goal is to enhance the quality of life and promote the independence of older adults within the community.

Familiarity with budgeting software, scheduling tools, and regulatory compliance systems is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, leadership, and cultural sensitivity help foster a welcoming environment and motivate staff and volunteers. These competencies ensure that the center operates smoothly, meets the needs of seniors, and adheres to relevant policies and standards.
