Job description

Position Summary

The Senior CP Engineer leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of cathodic protection (CP) systems for our critical infrastructure. The position plays a key role in ensuring asset integrity, regulatory compliance, and the long‑term performance of our corrosion mitigation strategies. It requires advanced technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and field experience in both impressed current and galvanic systems.

Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and corrosion theory to execute projects or complete various aspects of projects
    • Execution and supervision of field activities
    • Proposal and quotation preparation, reporting, invoicing, scheduling, maintaining communication with project team and client, cost tracking, writing and maintaining procedures, and contributing to team initiatives
    • Provide engineering support to design and install or inspect and repair cathodic protection systems for clients
    • Communicate with engineering firms and client companies to obtain requisite technical information to complete detailed design packages, inspection programs and coordinate installation and inspection activities
    • Recommend and contribute to the continual improvement quality process and assist with updating internal procedures
    • Monitor and control project schedules, costs, quality, safety, efficiency, scope, and other project management components
    • Data review and analysis
  • Perform over‑the‑line depth of cover, close‑interval CP and coating surveys and associated data evaluation
    • Calibrate test instruments, write detailed reports, provide issue resolution
    • Responsible for producing an "output model" for the HawkEye process to be built to data review and reporting specifications
  • Identify and remediate AC and/or DC interference and foreign influence issues
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot CP and alternating current (AC) mitigation system deficiencies, independently conducting and supervising various types of assessments and applying knowledge of engineering principles and corrosion theory to execute projects
    • Utilize HawkEye to conduct field tests and surveys for pipeline operations (e.g., structure potential, close‑interval potential, AC or direct current voltage gradient, AC current attenuation, line locating, soil resistivity, coating condition and integrity)
    • Maintain and update the issue log and assist the HawkEye development team with issue resolution
    • Other work duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel/Visual Basic Application skills to support cathodic protection engineering data analysis and database management
    • Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, coatings, and mitigation methods
    • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
    • Proficient in CP modeling software and data acquisition systems
    • Ability to travel to field locations as needed
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
    • AMPP/NACE CP4 – Cathodic Protection Specialist is required, or the ability to pass the CP4 certification exam if not already obtained
    • 5+ years of experience in Cathodic Protection design and management
    • Minimum 3 years of experience utilizing the HawkEye system to support research and development
    • Valid driver's license
