About the Role:
As a Sr Building Engineer at CBRE, you will be the operational backbone of a mission-critical hospital campus in Rowlett, TX. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and operational efficiency of complex building systems. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires a technical expert capable of directing workflows, maintaining rigorous compliance standards, and fostering a safe, comfortable environment for patients, medical staff, and visitors.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage and direct daily maintenance workflows, ensuring all work orders are completed efficiently and within established SLAs. Serve as a point of escalation for the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Jump in to assist the team directly when operational demands require additional support by perform hands on maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure.
  • Lead the implementation and execution of a robust preventative maintenance program to extend equipment lifespan, minimize downtime, and ensure peak performance.
  • Utilize and monitor BAS platforms to proactively manage environmental conditions, optimize energy efficiency, and troubleshoot system anomalies.
  • Oversee third-party contractors, including scheduling site visits, coordinating access, and auditing work to ensure compliance with quality standards and contract specifications.
  • Serve as a primary responder for facility emergencies and critical system failures, diagnosing issues rapidly and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities align with healthcare regulatory requirements, life safety codes, and company safety protocols. Conduct and sign off on inspections for life safety systems, fire alarms, and critical infrastructure.
  • When needed travel to local satellite facilities as needed to provide technical support and ensure consistency in operational standards across the campus footprint.
  • Interact professionally and effectively with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams.

What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage team workflows, and make independent decisions in a high-pressure environment.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
