Senior Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing - Austin, Texas

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

The Senior Construction Materials (CMT) Technician is responsible for performing a variety of testing, (example: soil, concrete, etc.) project-specific observation, inspection duties and provide assessment data under general supervision.

What you'll do:

  • Utilize, read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, and diagrams
  • Use specific methods to observe site activities, perform tasks and give the interpretation of results
  • Attend project meetings alone, without supervision, and communicate effectively with client and project teams

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must possess at least one of the following certifications:  
    • ACI: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1; 
    • TXAPA Certifications (Level 1B HMA Roadway Specialist, Level 1A HMA Plant Production Specialist, etc.)
    • ICC: Soils, Concrete, Masonry, Commercial Building Inspector, Spray-applied Fireproofing; 
    • NICET II (geotechnical or construction, or construction material testing or soils); 
    • AWCI EIFS inspector; UL or FM firestop examination
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb occasionally

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
