Job description

We have a large, industrial client looking for an experienced pipe designer.


They are looking for a highly motivated Pipe designer/detailer with 7-10 years of CAD and 3D design experience in industries including specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, biotechnology and pharmaceutical, energy, and utilities. This person will interact with project managers, Supt, foreman, engineers and clients providing design support for regional. This person will support project teams through the development and interaction with BIM models generated in-house and received from clients. The generation of BIM models can be used for evaluation, planning, and fabrication. . They will assist project members in the field through the complete life cycle of a project with the production and use of 3D models. Support the development of models to support fabrication and field productivity. This person will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency within the following areas.

  • Evaluate the scope of work using P&ID's and specifications to create design piping systems while adhering to plant design standards.
  • Attend clash detection / coordination meetings utilizing Navisworks Manage.
  • Working alongside a project manager or superintendent, to optimize construction processes.
  • Participate in meetings both in-person at the jobsite and via video conferencing.
  • Collaborate to create and administer VDG standards.
  • Provide Navisworks and Plant 3d troubleshooting and assistance to project teams.
  • Modify/Create 3D models and 2D drawings from engineering drawings, sketches and backgrounds utilizing AutoCAD, and Plant 3d.
  • Responsible for equipment and pipe modeling which includes layout and detail design of all the piping systems (process and utility)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work conforms to applicable codes and standards
  • Assist the project team to deliver client BIM requirements, model visualizations and modeling for proposals and preconstruction


Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of CAD and 3D design experience and MEP coordination process.
  • Knowledge and experience with CAD and BIM systems such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Fabrication CAD MEP, Plant 3D Navisworks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to support client design teams and assist with coordinating their design requirements to the project team.
  • Working with assigned design managers and project managers, meeting client’s budget, contract fees, goals, objectives, and schedules.
  • Working with, responding to, and taking direction from client senior engineers and project managers.
  • Have earned a high school diploma, or equivalent, and completed coursework in AutoCAD and/or BIM software packages from a technical or vocational school; or
  • An associate's degree in a field of study related to drafting and design; or
  • A four-year undergraduate degree in a field of study related to mechanical engineering.
