Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend API Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission‑critical programs in Linthicum, Maryland. In this role, you will support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by designing, developing, testing, deploying, and sustaining secure backend services and middleware that enable the automation of system security evaluation and authorization processes. Working within an Agile development environment, you will build and maintain Python‑based RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend applications utilizing Django and Flask frameworks. You will develop scalable solutions that interact with MariaDB and MongoDB databases, delivering JSON‑formatted data to front‑end applications while ensuring performance, reliability, and security across enterprise systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable API endpoints that serialize and transmit data in JSON format to front‑end applications.
  • Support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by developing capabilities that automate system security evaluation and authorization processes.
  • Design and implement backend solutions that support continuous monitoring, data collection, and lifecycle management across enterprise systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance software components based on documented functional and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and mission stakeholders to develop and implement technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects while optimizing application performance and reliability.
  • Utilize Docker to develop, package, and deploy containerized applications.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified operating environments and enterprise architectures.
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications and system documentation.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, and code reviews.

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience developing backend software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing applications using Python.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Experience using Django and/or Flask frameworks.
  • Experience developing and supporting microservice‑based architectures.
  • Experience working with MongoDB and/or MariaDB databases.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
  • Experience developing secure, scalable, and high‑performing backend applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
