Job Title: IT Specialist (SME) – Full Stack Developer (Java/React)

Location: Lanham, MD 20706 (Hybrid – 2-3 days onsite required)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) to join our development team. In this role, you will function as a Full Stack Developer with a strong bias toward backend engineering, while also possessing the frontend expertise to build seamless user interfaces. You will be responsible for architecting, developing, and deploying high-performance, distributed, and containerized applications in a secure, cloud-native environment.

The ideal candidate is not just a coder but a technical leader who understands the intricacies of messaging systems, data grids, and DevSecOps pipelines, ensuring that applications are scalable, resilient, and compliant with government security standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/Spring Boot for backend services and ReactJS for dynamic frontend interfaces.

  • Integration & Middleware: Develop and manage integrations using the webMethods Suite (Integration Server, Universal Messaging) and implement messaging solutions using Red Hat AMQ (ActiveMQ), IBM MQ, or Apache Kafka.

  • Containerization & Orchestration: Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Utilize Helm for Kubernetes package management.

  • Architecture & Performance: Architect solutions leveraging Data Grid technologies (Red Hat Data Grid/Infinispan) for high-performance, low-latency distributed caching. Design microservices following cloud-native best practices.

  • DevSecOps & Automation: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions (or other IRS-approved tools) to automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment processes.

  • API & Security: Develop and secure APIs (REST/SOAP) utilizing OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect. Ensure compliance with TLS cipher suites, secure coding standards, and automated dependency vulnerability management.

  • Monitoring & Observability: Implement logging and monitoring solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and AppDynamics to ensure system health and performance.

  • Database Management: Write and optimize complex queries for relational databases including Oracle Exadata, PostgreSQL, and IBM Db2.

Minimum Technical Skillset Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance is mandatory. Candidates without an active Secret clearance will not be considered.
