Job description

SUMMARY:  The Sr. Aviation Accessory Technician is responsible for performing complex maintenance on all fuel, oil, or air accessories by civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA. This role requires extensive technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:                    

  • Assemble and test all fuel controls, or all governors, or all fuel, oil, or air accessories
  • Operate test equipment as needed to ensure accessories pass function test.
  • Provide training and technical support to Aviation Accessory Technicians.
  • Utilize hand tools and specialty tools for precision measurements daily.
  • Read and interpret technical data and drawings.
  • Generate data plates for components completed with use of a laser system.
  • Verify all accessories are tested to the appropriate specifications to ensure airworthiness.
  • Troubleshoot accessories failing test or set up to determine root cause of failure.
  • Interpret results from functionality testing.
  • Work closely with quality assurance, engineering, and production teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
  • Interact with production coordinator to schedule priorities.
  • Communicate daily needs to Senior Aviation Accessory Technician.
  • Attend training courses as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of organization and safety in the workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or A&P/Technical degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant/technical work experience
  • OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Willingness to train new hires.
  • Advanced proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, hand tools, and test equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
  • Very high Mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical documents, component maintenance manuals (CMMs), and engineering drawings.
  • Basic computer operating skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • AND 8+ years of technical work experience in aviation maintenance, MRO, or accessory repair.

OTHER

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
