Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver / Test Vehicle Operator

Location: Dallas, TX
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours Weekly
Contract: Long-Term Ongoing Contract
Work Environment: On-Site

AVride, in partnership with HireArt and Uber, is hiring professional Safety Drivers to support real-world autonomous vehicle testing and live passenger ride operations in Dallas, TX.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers looking to enter the rapidly growing self-driving vehicle industry and work with cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate and monitor autonomous vehicles on public roads

  • Remain alert and ready to take vehicle control when necessary

  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and safety checks

  • Monitor vehicle system performance and road conditions

  • Submit detailed operational and safety reports

  • Communicate professionally with engineers, riders, and operations teams

  • Practice defensive driving and hazard anticipation at all times

Required Qualifications
  • Must be 25 years of age or older

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license held continuously for 3+ years

  • Clean driving record with no DUIs or major violations

  • 3+ years of professional driving experience OR 4+ years of full-time rideshare driving

  • Active Uber Driver account in good standing

  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving

  • Comfortable driving in traffic, highways, night shifts, and changing weather conditions

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using GPS, routing, and communication apps

  • Authorized to work in the United States (No visa sponsorship available)

Preferred Backgrounds

Strong fit for candidates with experience in:

  • Uber / Lyft

  • Delivery driving

  • CDL driving

  • Fleet operations

  • Medical courier services

  • Driving instruction

  • Autonomous vehicle operations

  • Transportation and logistics

Available Shifts

AM Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
PM Shift: 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM

Multiple schedules available, including weekends. Schedule flexibility is required.

Interview ProcessStep 1: Recruiter Screening

Candidates must submit:

  • Resume with driving experience

  • Proof of driver’s license history

  • Uber account screenshot

  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review

Step 2: Onsite Driving Evaluation

45-minute DMV-style driving assessment including:

  • City and highway driving

  • Traffic law compliance

  • Defensive driving evaluation

  • Safety awareness testing

  • Emergency hard-stop maneuver
