Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly creative Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design efforts across complex healthcare, institutional, and commercial projects. This role is responsible for managing interior design scope from early programming and conceptual development through construction administration and FF&E installation.
The Senior Interior Designer will work closely with architects, consultants, project teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to deliver thoughtful, technically sound, and aesthetically cohesive interior environments that support operational functionality, user experience, and evidence-based design principles.
This position requires strong expertise in healthcare interior design, space planning, finish and material selection, FF&E coordination, construction documentation, and multidisciplinary project collaboration. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of healthcare-specific requirements including infection control considerations, durability standards, and applicable healthcare design guidelines.
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of design creativity, technical production expertise, leadership ability, and client-facing communication skills while contributing to high-quality project delivery across multiple phases of design and construction.
Key Responsibilities

  •  Lead interior design development for assigned projects including: 
    •  Space planning 
    •  Finish selections 
    •  Furniture programming 
    •  Signage and wayfinding coordination 
    •  Interior concept development 
  •  Produce comprehensive interior construction documents including: 
    •  Reflected ceiling plans 
    •  Interior elevations 
    •  Millwork details 
    •  Finish schedules 
    •  Interior detailing packages 
  •  Apply evidence-based design (EBD) principles within healthcare and institutional environments while incorporating operational functionality and patient-centered design considerations. 
  •  Demonstrate familiarity with FGI Guidelines and healthcare-specific finish and material selection requirements including infection control considerations and durability standards. 
  •  Select, specify, and coordinate FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) packages while managing: 
    •  Finish libraries 
    •  Product research 
    •  Vendor coordination 
    •  Material sourcing 
    •  Product evaluations 
  •  Prepare and present interior design concepts, finish palettes, material selections, and presentation materials to clients, stakeholders, and project teams. 
  •  Facilitate: 
    •  Finish selection meetings 
    •  Design presentations 
    •  Mock-up reviews 
    •  User group coordination sessions 
    •  Client review meetings 
  •  Coordinate interior design scope with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical documentation to ensure design consistency and resolve project conflicts. 
  •  Conduct site visits and field observations during construction to review: 
    •  Finish installations 
    •  Millwork execution 
    •  FF&E placement 
    •  Construction quality 
    •  Design implementation consistency 
  •  Review shop drawings, finish submittals, product samples, and installation details during construction administration. 
  •  Mentor and support Interior Designers and junior team members by reviewing work product, providing design guidance, and maintaining consistency with project standards and documentation quality. 
  •  Support project teams in maintaining design schedules, coordination efforts, and project documentation accuracy across all phases of delivery. 
Qualifications

  •  NCIDQ certification required. 
  •  7+ years of interior design experience with at least 2 years supporting healthcare or institutional projects. 
  •  Strong experience leading interior design scope across multiple project phases including: 
    •  Programming 
    •  Schematic Design 
    •  Design Development 
    •  Construction Documents 
    •  Construction Administration 
  •  Proficiency in: 
    •  Revit 
    •  AutoCAD 
    •  Adobe Creative Suite 
  •  Experience with SketchUp or 3ds Max preferred. 
  •  Strong working knowledge of: 
    •  IBC occupancy and egress requirements 
    •  ADA/ABA accessibility standards 
    •  FGI Guidelines 
    •  Healthcare finish standards 
    •  Interior detailing practices 
    •  Construction documentation procedures 
  •  Demonstrated experience managing:

The Senior Interior Designer will contribute across multiple active projects simultaneously while supporting design development, client coordination, construction administration, and FF&E implementation activities throughout all phases of project delivery.
