Job Description: Senior Automation Engineer (Playwright)

Location: Charlotte, NC (preferably local candidates) 

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Playwright to design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for web applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in modern test automation practices, CI/CD integration, API testing, and quality engineering within Agile environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks using Playwright.
  • Create and execute automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA teams to understand requirements and define test strategies.
  • Develop reusable automation components and improve test coverage across applications.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
  • Perform API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or Playwright API testing capabilities.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams for resolution.
  • Ensure test automation follows best practices for maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and release activities.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to automation best practices.

 

 

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in Software Testing and Test Automation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with API testing and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Good understanding of Git and version control practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
  • Exposure to performance and security testing practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in enterprise-scale web application testing.
